Introduction to Wang Shibo

Wang Shibo (1868--1933), whose courtesy name was Lusheng, was named Jitiezi in his middle age, and Jitielaoren in his later years. He was a native of Tianjin. A famous calligrapher in modern China. He studied classics, history and poetry at a young age, and was highly qualified. He later served as the governor of Zhenba and Xixiang counties in Shaanxi. He has studied calligraphy intensively throughout his life, is rigorous in his scholarship, and has unique research on the evolution and different characteristics of Zhangcao and Jincao. He compiled and wrote "Collection of Manuscripts and Words", and the original stone carvings are now on display in the Hanzhong Municipal Museum. He is the author of "Shu Jue", "On the Reasons of This Chapter in Cursive Script", "Mr. Wang Shibo's Calligraphy", etc.
