The first of the "Ten Scenic Spots of Pengjiang", I think, is the "Baisha Yangxian" - Chen Baisha Memorial Hall. This is my biggest feeling after visiting the Chen Baisha Memorial Hall. It not only increased my knowledge, but also taught me morality and encouraged me to work hard.
On a sunny spring day, we visited the Chen Baisha Memorial Hall.
As soon as I walked through the door, I was intoxicated by the culturally rich courtyard: the winding paths, corridors, clumps of flowers and plants, and ancient buildings all had an antique flavor that made me forget to leave. I stood in front of the bronze statue of Mr. Chen Baisha. I saw him with a strong figure, wearing a hat and robe, holding a book in his hand, and looking into the distance with a pair of deep eyes, with a serious expression. I think there must be some places in the book that aroused his thinking, and he was fascinated by it.
Turning behind the statue, I saw the general structure of the Chen Baisha Memorial Hall. The memorial hall consists of the front yard, Chen Baisha Temple, exhibition center, Baisha parents' tomb, etc., covering an area of ??about 18,000 square meters. The Baisha Temple in front of me is composed of Chunyang Hall, Zhengjie Hall, Chongzheng Hall and Biyu Tower.
The first thing that appeared in front of me was a wood and stone archway with eaves on all sides. The tour guide pointed it out to us one by one: the archway is divided into four columns, three rooms and three floors, all with green glazed edges and decorated with ridges. There is a pattern of Kui dragon playing with a pearl, and there are double-warped Ruyi brackets under the eaves. On the front of the Minglou there is an "Imperial Edict" plaque and a wooden plaque with the word "Chastity" engraved on it. This is the chastity archway, the treasure of the Baisha Temple and a provincial cultural relic protection unit. It is said to be one of the two Ming Dynasty archways that are still intact in Guangdong. This was built in recognition of Mr. Baisha's mother Lin's deeds of observing the festival. I thought to myself, this is what the "Chastity Arch" mentioned in the book is like. Mrs. Lin worked hard to raise Mr. Baisha and the brothers, how difficult it was!
When I walked into Chunyang Hall, I saw a plaque on the door with the four words "True Confucianism in the Holy Dynasty" written on it. Chunyang Hall is named in memory of Mr. Bai Sha and after the "Chun Yangtang" where he studied and lectured during his lifetime. A plaque reading "Chongzhengtang" hangs on the main entrance of the hall. There is a shrine in the hall, and a sitting clay statue of Mr. Chen Baisha is placed in the shrine. I saw a woodcut couplet: Taoism was passed down by Confucius and Mencius for two thousand years, and Shao, Cheng and Zhu were the first to learn it. It is said that this was a grant from the imperial court in the second year of Wanli (1574) of the Ming Dynasty. This shows how respected Mr. Chen Baisha was at that time, and even the emperor praised him.
The Biyu Building located at the innermost part of Baisha Temple has a generous and simple layout. It was originally the former residence of Mr. Chen Baisha. It was built to celebrate the rediscovery of ancestral jasper. It was the place where Mr. Baisha collected ancestral jasper and raised his mother. There are some items left by Chen Baisha on display inside, including the "Canghai Dragon Yin Qin", "Dragon and Tiger Fighting Inkstone" and "Maolong Brush". I heard from the tour guide that when Chen Baisha was a child, his family was very poor and had no money to buy a pen, so he went to the mountains to pick some thatch and braid it into a pen. This kind of pen is very distinctive, and the lower stroke is strong and majestic. It is what we call it today. "Maolong pen". The emergence of Chen Baisha's calligraphy changed the calligraphy style of the Ming Dynasty, which had been weak and weak since ancient times, and formed a unique style. To this day, Maolong pen and Maolong calligraphy are still the pride of Jiangmen people.
There are two one-meter-square fish ponds in front of the Biyu Tower. I think that during Mrs. Lin’s lifetime, the filial Mr. Baisha must have often accompanied his mother here to watch the fish and talk... I lingered in the Biyu Tower, Seeing everything here, I deeply feel Mr. Chen Baisha's profound knowledge and noble moral character. My heart is full of respect for him.
As the sun set, at the urging of my tour guide sister, I reluctantly left the Chen Baisha Memorial Hall.
Comments: There are many buildings in Baisha Memorial Hall. The author will explain them one by one. The statue of Mr. Baisha, the wood and stone archway, Chunyang Hall, Jasper Tower, and fish pond are all described by the young author in order of space. The content of these scenery is led by "increasing my knowledge, teaching me morality, and urging me to work hard". Throughout the whole text, the writing is as clear as the layout of the memorial hall, mixed but not chaotic, and each has its own splendor.
