During Chen Zun's tenure as Taiyuan's satrap, thieves were rampant in Li Huai, and Shilizhou township officials were helpless. Chen Zun succeeded in catching these lawless thieves by some means, so he was rewarded by the emperor and named as Javey Hou. At that time, the scenery was infinite. Chen Zundang entered and lived in Chang 'an, and all the royal nobles in Chang 'an respected him very much. When foreign officials return to Chang 'an, they also visit Chen Zun, who loves to drink.
Chen Zun, born in Ling Du (Jin 'an), is a famous calligrapher in the Western Han Dynasty and the founder of "Zhifu Seal". His date of birth and death is unknown. He was named Hou of Javey because of his meritorious service in fighting bandits. Chen Zun likes drinking very much, and his personality is generous and informal. He used to be Taiyuan Taishou, Jiujiang Taishi, Hanoi Taishi, Jinghe Tingwei. The story of Chen Zun, which has been handed down to this day, reflects his free and easy deeds. Chen Zun is one of the few civil servants who can drink freely and are good at calligraphy. He often does things that do not conform to the "official festival". On one occasion, Chen Zun, then the prefect of Henan Province, and Chen Ji, then the younger brother of Jingzhou Animal Husbandry, were detained by their owners for a banquet when passing by a manor in Chang 'an. It happened that the owner of the manor was a rich man or widow in Chang 'an at that time. Soon, the news reached the ears of a secretary named Chen Chong. He began to play the emperor, to the effect that Chen Zun was a big shot and had a high position, and even went to the widow's house to drink for the night. He not only ignored his official status of preaching the enlightenment of the holy king, but also ignored the widow status of the other party, which violated the etiquette of being a minister and seriously damaged the majesty of the court. He suggested that Chen Zun and his brother be dismissed. Later, Chen Zun was dismissed, but Chen Zun was not.
Chen Zun's story adds a lot of personality charm to him. Although his official career has experienced several ups and downs, he also served as Henan satrap during Wang Mang's period and was later dismissed. But Chen Zun was finally reused by the court, and his official position was Ting Wei. This shows that Chen Zun's ability to be an official is still very good, and as a famous calligrapher, he was very popular among the aristocratic class at that time, which also helped his career.
