What should I do if my calligraphy is signed?

Calligraphy inscription is an important part of the whole calligraphy work. It can be said that a complete calligraphy work consists of three parts: words, inscriptions and seals. Some people think that if the text is written, but the signature is not successful, then the work will fail.

In contemporary calligraphy competitions, many judges pay great attention to inscriptions, sometimes focusing on inscriptions, because inscriptions can best reflect a person's calligraphy level. However, when we usually create calligraphy works, many people pay attention to the writing of text content, but generally ignore the signature part.

So, how is calligraphy signed?

The content of the signature can be divided into: writing content+writing time+writer's name, which is relatively common.

For example, record a poem+Xia Yue+a book by Li Bai, a poet in the Tang Dynasty.

Some people like writing places, but it is generally not recommended. If there are still vacancies, you can write the fasting number.

The following regular script works were written by teacher Lu Zhongnan, whose signature is concise and clear, and the theme is prominent, which is a good model essay work.

Of course, there are also some horizontal works, and the signature forms are different according to different habits and contents. For example, a horizontal four-character work, some people like to put the inscription under the four-character work and write it as a horizontal line, which is consistent with the theme in form. This time can be written as: time+content comment+author's name. Such as: Xin Chou Xia Yue+recording Confucius XXX+ writing XXX.

But many people are used to putting their signatures on the left side of the text, or even writing them in two short vertical lines. At this time, the content of the signature is: time+author's name. Such as: Xin Chou Xia Yue+a book. This signature style is atmospheric and confident. As shown in the figure below, two different signature forms are both banner signatures.

Of course, for the form of calligraphy inscriptions, the general requirement is not to dilute the main part of the text. If a person feels that his inscription level is not high, he should try not to use complicated words, but try to reduce the number of words. For example, some masters only leave their own names when signing, which will make people remember deeply.

There is also a very important problem in signing, that is, its style, that is, which style to sign. Here are a few simple examples to illustrate:

If the text is regular script, try to use running script when signing, because the whole work is combined with sports, which makes people feel the author's ability to strengthen calligraphy.

If the content is running script, you can't sign in in regular script. If so, it would be naive, but you should sign in with running script.

If the content is official script, it is most appropriate to write the signature with Cao Zhang. Why? This is because Cao Zhang is a dynamic calligraphy style, while Lishu is a static calligraphy style. The combination of static and dynamic calligraphy works is very interesting. In addition, Cao Zhang and Li Shu almost belong to the same era, and the style of this book looks very old, so the whole work is very old. If you use regular script, the work will look childish and be rejected by calligraphers.

Generally speaking, calligraphy inscription is a very particular thing, both the content of the inscription and the style of the words used are very standardized. Usually, besides learning other people's signature methods, we should also pay attention to strengthening the study of calligraphy theory knowledge, so as to enrich our horizons and signature knowledge.
