More than two thousand years ago, after the Buddha became a Buddha, he could not bear the suffering of all beings and founded Buddhism. 1977 and 49 years, he preached 84,000 dharmas, each corresponding to all beings with different roots, so that all beings could walk out of their misery and embark on the bright road of practicing Buddhism. The Heart Sutra can be said to be one of the classics with the deepest relationship with all beings, because it has few words, profound meaning and all-encompassing, and has been widely circulated. In just 260 words, many friends can recite them, and many people copy the Heart Sutra in combination with practicing calligraphy, which is of great benefit to physical and mental cultivation.
Friends who have read the Heart Sutra know that there is a saying that "color is empty, and empty is color". Many people don't understand Buddhism, but they are deeply impressed by this sentence through major film and television dramas. So what does this sentence in the Heart Sutra mean? What is the meaning?
To truly understand the meaning of this passage, we must first accurately understand the meaning of the words "color" and "emptiness". Judging from the meaning of words, many people think that "color" is color, even beauty, which is feminine, so they regard the whole sentence as: in the face of femininity, we must be able to resist temptation and not be deceived. This is all wet. The "color" here can be understood as the existing state of things. That is what we see and unfold, including its image, color, smell and other features we see, hear and feel.
Say "empty", this empty can cover everything. Ordinary people understand it as "nothing", nonexistence, etc. If it doesn't exist, how can you say it doesn't exist when an item is clearly there? How can you deny the truth of something that happened clearly? So emptiness does not mean nothing, but the nature of things, that is, "emptiness." How to understand it? If you have heard of Buddhism's impermanence, it is easy to understand the meaning of emptiness. Buddha said life is impermanent, the world is impermanent, everything in the world is changing, and there is no constant existence.
So from this push, everything is impermanent. Buddha said that everything in the world is a combination of cause and effect. With the seeds of the cause and the promotion of the cause, there will be fruit in the end. And "fate" is constantly changing, which also leads to the "fruit" of things is constantly changing. Therefore, the Buddha said that all karma is the change of karma, and it cannot be forced.
Therefore, "color is emptiness, and emptiness is color" is to tell people that everything should be viewed from a relative, dialectical and changing point of view, instead of clinging to all the states of things in the past, present and future, as four sentences in the Diamond Sutra say: "Everything is Buddhism, like a dream bubble. If dew is like electricity, you should look at it this way. "
