To master the characteristics of "ritual tablet", we must first understand the general laws of official script. Like most other inscriptions in Han Li, the ceremony monument has a compact structure, which opens from side to side, just like a Dapeng spreading its wings and dancing like Lingyun. Almost every word on the tablet has exaggerated strokes. The ancients commonly called it "wave". Waves are written in the form of "swallowtail silkworm head" In each word, the wave only appears once and cannot be repeated. The same is true of the so-called "Silkworm No 2" and "Yan Bu Qi Fei".
At first glance, most of the characters are oblate, as shown in the figure 1 However, the official script inherits the seal script, and some characters are painted horizontally, often written in vertical rectangles, such as "painting", "truth", "teaching" and "Taiwan" in Figure 2. This requires us to deal with words flexibly.
We should think carefully about some strange and unique words in the ceremony monument. As shown in Figure 3, the word "yes" seems to be independent; The word "zhong" is like a column; The word "Yang" pulls away from left to right, pulling each other, and the lower part of the word "Yi" is almost horizontal, keeping balance in danger; The word "grain" is like a pair of dancers in motion. They correspond carefully. Another example is the word "Jun" in Figure 4. The first horizontal painting and the last horizontal painting are composed of arcs, and each horizontal painting in the middle is in harmony with the upper and lower strokes. Especially in the shadow part of the tablet, the change of pen gesture is surging, and learners should carefully distinguish and contrast.
In addition, when the same characters, such as Jun and Yue in Figure 4, Bai and Kong in Figure 5 and Sheng in Figure 6, appear repeatedly in the same tablet, the structure of each character is not repeated, and the braille forms of the characters are different, which makes people admire the writer's skill. No wonder Wang Shu, a calligrapher in Qing Dynasty, said when commenting on this tablet: "When the book is ripe, it will naturally change. This monument has no words. "
In a word, the structure of the memorial tablet, whether up and down, left and right, or the surrounding structure, can take advantage of the situation and look forward to it, with a beautiful posture, forming a vibrant organic whole without any suspicion of affectation. At the same time, the thickness of the lines and the divided space form a strong contrast between black and white and light, thus giving people a distinct sense of rhythm.
