The correct way to hold a pen

The correct holding posture of the pen:

1. Place the penholder between the three tips of the thumb, index finger and middle finger. The index finger is in front, the thumb is in the back left, and the middle finger is in the middle. On the lower right side, the index finger should be lower than the thumb, and the tip of the finger should be about 3 cm from the tip of the pen.

2. Keep the penholder tilted at 60 degrees with the workbook, the palm of your hand is rounded, and the knuckles are slightly bent.

The holding of the pen in hard-pen calligraphy is different from that of brush calligraphy, which requires "raising the edge, moving the wrist, and cantilevering the arm", but the basic principles are similar. The five fingers are involved in holding the pen, and they also rely on the linkage of the palm and wrist, and the support of the wrist and forearm to complete the pen holding and movement. This kind of pen holding posture is actually very consistent with holding a brush. It not only allows you to move the pen freely, but also gives full play to the coherent function of the wrist and arm, and plays a good role in force transmission.
