The benefits of childhood reading to students are obvious. When reading, students enter windows of literature, culture, and civilization. They talk to masters, make friends with books, and communicate with great men. Over time, the essence of human thought accumulates and becomes the spiritual foundation of students. More importantly, reading is an important way to grow dreams. Students will continue to have dreams during long-term reading. Because reading itself is an intellectual development activity, a process of self-education, and a humanistic emotional edification. In order to cultivate children's interest in reading, I try to use the following methods:
Create a good atmosphere and love reading
1. Establish a small reading area in the class. Here, there are children’s special bookshelves and their own books. These books must be what the children like and adapt to the students’ reading ability. Use parent-teacher conferences to train parents so that they understand the importance of reading and gain their support. Parents fill their homes with all kinds of interesting books so that their children can easily read and appreciate them. To make reading an indispensable part of children's lives and to make reading a pleasure rather than a burden, we need to teach by example. If parents regard reading as part of the fun of life, children will naturally be happy to read. Parents often read and read newspapers with relish and are always interested in books and newspapers. Children will find reading interesting and full of curiosity about books. In a relaxed atmosphere, parents can arrange a short period of time to read with their children for a few minutes. But when you go out, take one or two books with you and read a few paragraphs with your children in the park, in the suburbs, by the river, in the fresh air, in an environment with birds singing and flowers fragrant. In this way, children are naturally introduced to the world of books and reading becomes a pastime for children.
2. Use the suspense of the story to arouse reading interest. For children who rarely read or are unwilling to read, listening to stories is not burdensome. Instead, they can understand the plot, the characters' personalities, and the good and evil of things from the speaker's emotional narration. Students are receptive to listening to stories. Parents and teachers can use this opportunity to guide students to read books and recommend books to stimulate interest and expand reading.
3. "Let yourself read". Extracurricular reading should be independent and voluntary reading. What should be read or what should not be read should be determined by students' interests. As long as the content is healthy, let students read what they like. The so-called interest refers to things that are familiar or unfamiliar, unknown or unclear. Such articles and books are easy to read, fresh and refreshing, and the spirit is very happy. For children who are new to books, it is most appropriate to stimulate their interest and "let them read". Don't worry about what books they read, even if they are humorous jokes. The teacher's "laissez-faire" attitude is tolerant and considerate. Only in this way will students enjoy the pleasure of reading without restraint and ignite the spark of their souls.
4. Talk about your own reading experience to stimulate interest. Parents and teachers should often talk about their own (or organize students to talk about) their gains and experiences after reading reading materials, and use "experiential explanations" to arouse students' emotional excitement and generate a strong desire to read.
Using Chinese reading classes as a source to expand reading
When students have an interest in extracurricular reading, teachers must guide students to read extensively in order to achieve "reading a wide range of books, accumulating thick and thin "Fa" purpose. How to make students of different levels have a lasting and conscious enthusiasm for extracurricular reading? How to enable students to learn to read a wide range of books? Self-compiled teaching materials suitable for their reading can be published and read in reading classes. You can also recommend reading materials, including: science fiction novels, fairy tales, customs and customs of various countries, stories of celebrities' struggles, and stories of heroes. Through directed reading, students accumulate language, enrich knowledge, and improve reading ability.
Books are a window for children to understand the world. Through reading, children can be introduced to a magical and wonderful world of books, making their lives more colorful and fun.
