Ten interesting things about couplets, I have to admire the wit of the ancients.

A small couplet, though not surprising in appearance, inherits the Chinese civilization. Throughout the ages, there are many interesting stories related to Spring Festival couplets.

1。 Wang Xizhi, a great calligrapher in the Eastern Jin Dynasty, likes to write couplets, but every time he just posted them, others stole them. On New Year's Eve, he came up with a clever way to prevent "thieves": he posted this couplet on the door:

Felicity never paired off.

When it rains, it pours/Misfortunes never come singly

The thief walked up to Wang Zhai and shook his head. In the early morning of the first day, Wang Xizhi continued three words at the end of the couplet, which became a masterpiece with new meaning:

Happiness has not doubled until now.

It never rains but it pours.

2。 Wang Yucheng, a writer in the Northern Song Dynasty, was born in a poor family when he was a child. He often helped adults to grind noodles after school. /kloc-when he was 0/2 years old, an expert asked him to make a couplet on grinding noodles. Wang Yucheng said:

But match the heart.

It's too late to worry.

One day, when the local satrap held a banquet, he made an impromptu statement:

Parrots can talk like chickens.

The guests were full of answers and the news spread the next day. Wang Yucheng know, immediately to the next sentence:

Spiders are not as clever as silkworms.

3。 Lv Mengzheng, a Song Dynasty man, was indignant at the serious inequality between the rich and the poor at that time. One Spring Festival, a poor man asked him to write a pair of Spring Festival couplets. Lu wrote:

Two three four five

Six seven eight nine

Banner: North and South

After the Spring Festival couplets were posted, countless people gathered around. Everyone began to feel "strange" and then called it "wonderful". The beauty of this pair of Spring Festival couplets lies in its external meaning: the first couplet is short of one, and the second couplet is short of ten, which is a homonym of "lack of clothes and food". The horizontal comment of "North and South" means "nothing". The author uses unique rhetorical devices to describe the plight of the poor.

4。 Yan Shu, a poet of the Song Dynasty, took a nap in daming temple when he passed Yangzhou. He came across a poem written on the wall. Upon inquiry, he knew that the author was a local, so he invited Wang to dinner. After supper, they took a walk by the swimming pool. It's late spring and everything is red. Yan Shu said, "Sometimes I think of a good sentence. For example, I once said:

There is no choice but to spend money.

So far, I haven't figured out the bottom line. Britain-based authority replied:

The swallow I may know is back.

Soon, this couplet was written by Yan Shu with his word "Huanxisha, a new word for a glass of wine" and became a famous sentence through the ages.

5。 Kou Zhun, a famous figure in the Northern Song Dynasty, and all his friends traveled in the suburbs. On a whim, they made a sentence:

The moon under water is the moon in the sky.

All my friends didn't answer correctly. Yang Danian just arrived and said:

The person in the eyes is the person in front of me.

All the friends cheered in unison.

6。 Male father is very kind to him, Wang Anshi made a try:

Xia, Shang and Zhou dynasties

Liu told yue:

Ode to elegance in four poems

Wang Anshi applauded: "This place is made in heaven!" The beauty of antithesis is that it sums up "ode to elegance" with "four-character poem": because "elegance" in The Book of Songs can be divided into "elegance" and "elegance", when combined with "wind" and "ode", it just becomes "four-character poem".

7。 Mei is famous for her poems, but after 30 years of ups and downs, she has not been reused. In his later years, he was invited by Ouyang Xiu to participate in the compilation of Tang Shu. After the manuscript was written, it was not presented to the emperor, and Mei died, which made the literati lament. Previously, when Mei was ordered to write the Book of the Tang Dynasty, he once said to his wife Diao Shi:

My book can also be described as a monkey in a cloth bag.

DiaoShi laughed.

You are an official. Why is the catfish on the bamboo pole?

Although it is a daily conversation between husband and wife, it naturally becomes a bond, and everyone who hears it applauds.

8。 Su Shi (no. Dongpo and Huang Tingjian play chess in Panasonic. A gust of wind blew, pine nuts fell off the chessboard, and Dongpo improvised:

Panasonic go, pine nuts fall with each one.

Huang Tingjian told yue:

Fishing by willows, on which fishing lines are often hung.

9。 Su Shi has always been a snob. Wang Anshi, the prime minister, attached great importance to Su Shi's talent, but felt that he should be killed. One year, the first month and December are beginning of spring, and August is another leap month. Wang Anshi took this as the topic and asked Su Shi to answer correctly:

One year on earth, two spring months, two August, two spring and autumn.

Su Shi thought hard for days, but he couldn't answer. It was not until hundreds of years later that an anonymous person reluctantly made the bottom line (tolerance):

Sixty-year-olds will meet again on Sunday, and the world will meet again.

10。 One day, Su Dongpo invited Huang Tingjian to visit his home. Huang went to the door, Sue was busy going out to meet him, and they chatted under the willow tree by the door. Su Xiaomei, who is catching lice by the window, said:

Brother invited two moons outside the door.

Su Dongpo smiled and said:

My little sister caught half the wind at the window.

"Bimonthly" refers to "friends" and "half wind" refers to "lice". I have to admire the quick thinking and cleverness of the Su brothers and sisters.
