Temple architecture of Jiming Temple

The gate of Jiming Temple is located on the stone steps on the left side of Jiming Temple Road. The words "Ancient Jiming Temple" are written in gold in the middle of the gate. After entering the gate, there is a food table (Zhigong Table) on the left. In front of the dining hall is Maitreya Buddha Hall, above which are Mahayana Hall and Guanyin Building. There are two statues of Sakyamuni and Guanyin, donated by Thailand, and 32 statues of Guanyin are newly molded and enshrined in the main hall.

To the east of Ursa Major is the site of Xu Ge Pavilion, and to the west is the Tayuan. All the towers are carved with bluestone and the ground is paved with bluestone. The Pharmacist Tower was rebuilt in 1990, and Guanyin Tower is a spacious building on the left. To the east of Menghuo Building is Jingyang Building, and there is a couplet upstairs: "At the foot of Jilong Mountain in Taicheng, Di Zi, it evokes the former site of Jingyang Building; Xuanwu Lake, rouge ancient well, is still the same as the old view of the ancestral temple. " This couplet contains stories about the remains of Jilong Mountain, Taicheng, Xuanwu Lake, Tongtai Temple and the ancient well of Rouge. These two famous buildings are places where people lean against railings and overlook. Today, they have been changed into a teahouse and a vegetarian restaurant, facing the window. The main buildings in Jiming Temple are Daxiong Hall, Guanyin Building, Temple, Zhiling Cemetery, Tibetan Scripture Building, Buddha Hall and Shantang Temple Tower. Sanbao Buddha is enshrined in the Hall of the Great Hero. The outer gate, three pavilions, bell and drum tower, meditation room and vegetarian restaurant cover an area of about 50,000 square meters. The Shanmen archway "Jiming Temple" was inscribed by Zhao Puchu, a famous calligrapher and former president of the Chinese Buddhist Association, as well as couplets inscribed by famous artists such as Shi, Yu Zaohua.

Pharmacist stupa

The pharmacist stupa is a newly-built seven-story and eight-faced stupa of 199 1, and it is the fifth largest stupa in the history of Jiming Temple. The tower is about 44.8 meters high, and its appearance is fake nine sides, but in fact it has seven floors and eight sides, with double eaves and copper brake pipe tiles.

The tower has internal stairs and external corridors. This tower is called the pharmacist tower to eliminate disasters and prolong life, which contains the meaning of praying for the peace of the country and the people and eliminating disasters and prolonging life for pilgrims and tourists. On the south gate of the tower, Zhao Puchu, president of the Chinese Buddhist Association, wrote the words "Pharmacist Tower". On the forehead of the north gate, there is a plaque engraved with "Guotai Anmin", which was inscribed by the mayor of Nanjing. There is a bronze statue of the pharmacist Buddha in the tower. This statue was originally dedicated to the Lama Temple in Beijing. Zhao Puchu reported it to the State Council on 1972, and gave it to Nanjing Linggu Temple with the approval of Premier Zhou. Linggu Temple was temporarily stored in the Municipal Cultural Management Committee when it was repaired. After the completion of the pagoda, it was welcomed by the Cultural Management Committee in the pagoda. There are four niches in the middle of each floor of the tower, which are wood carvings of Jin Sinan in the Ming Dynasty, originally from Zhongnanhai. Each niche is dedicated to a statue of a wood-catching pharmacist Buddha, with a total of 24 statues.

Sakyamuni temple

Pilu Hall, also known as Daxiong Hall, is the main hall in the temple and was rebuilt in 1994. The center of the main hall is dedicated to Pilu Buddha (Dharma Buddha) among the three Buddhas. Manjusri Bodhisattva and Pu Xian's two great bodhisattvas are enshrined on both sides, and twenty-four celestial phenomena are enshrined on both sides.

guanyin temple

The Guanyin statue enshrined in the Guanyin Hall of Jiming Temple faces south, and the couplet at the entrance of the temple reads: "Ask the master why he sits upside down, sighing that all beings refuse to look back."

Menghuo building

Menghuo Building is located at the highest point of Jiming Temple. Zhang Zhidong, governor of the two rivers in the late Qing Dynasty, took Yang Rui, a student, to visit Jiming Temple many times. After the failure of the Reform Movement of 1898 and the death of "six gentlemen" such as Yang Rui, Zhang Zhidong advocated the construction of this building in Jiming Temple, and named it after Du Fu's poem "Blindness due to Worry" as a memorial. Zhang Zhidong's question: "Why is the resort often devastated and the fourth floor immortal?" Liang Qichao wrote: "Mountains and rivers overlap for the purpose, and wind and rain rush into the building." Now it has been converted into Baiwei Zhai of Jiming Temple.

Xiangtai

The incense table of Jiming Temple is on the south side of the platform. There is a huge red wax in front of the stage, and the fire is very big. On the outer stage is a row of oil lamps burning with lotus flowers for pilgrims to burn incense. On the inner stage is a column of incense and smoke. Inside the platform is a deep pit leading to the platform below. The incense ashes burned out and fell into the pit. When it accumulated, the monks cleaned it out from the cave below. There is a ceiling on the incense table. I think it's rainy, so I can avoid incense ashes and mud.

Good men and women gathered in Jiming Temple from all directions worship Buddha not in the main hall, but on the big platform in front of the incense table. Some people face west, some people face east, some people face north and some people face south. There is no unified direction.

There is an ancient well in the east of Jiming Temple, which is said to be an ancient rouge well. In the ninth year of Emperor Kai of Sui Dynasty, when Emperor Wen sent troops to destroy Chen and invaded Taicheng, his concubines Zhang Lihua and Kong hid in the rouge well, which was later discovered by Sui soldiers and became prisoners, so they were also called Shame Well. As the saying goes, "the stone vein in the stone well column" is wiped with silk to make it rouge, so it is named "rouge well" and "shame well"

Chen Houzhu Gouan Jiangnan, beautiful as a cloud, treacherous court official travel banquet poetry, can eventually reach the night, regardless of state affairs. In 589 AD, after Emperor Wendi of Sui Dynasty unified the north, he sent troops to attack Chen. Chen thinks that the Yangtze River natural barrier can be defended, but he still indulges in debauchery, and still plays Wu Sheng's Flowers in the Garden of Yushu and Haruka. Chen didn't wake up until Taicheng was breached, and hurriedly took his beloved concubines Zhang Lihua and Kong Guifei to hide in the dry well near Jingyang Temple. Later, it was discovered by Sui soldiers. It is said that when the three of them were hoisted from the well, the concubines were in tears, and the rouge was covered on the stone fence by the well, which could not be removed, leaving traces of rouge.

According to the records of Ding Jing Jiankang Zhi and Zheng Jinling Zhi Xin Zhi, the former name of Rouge Well was Jingyang Well, which was located in Taicheng and later hidden. Later generations built a rouge well on the side of Fabao Temple (now Jiming Temple) in order to let people write down the lessons of Chen Houzhu. Scholars in the Song Dynasty wrote "Insulting Well", which was printed in Shijingshan, saying, "Insulting Well in Sri Lanka is a must." Wang Anshi once wrote a poem here: "A hill of spring grass is still a remnant of Miyagi." Extravagance is the shame of the former king, and it is shameful before the dragon sinks. "
