Character experience, Zhang Honglin.

I first met Zhang Honglin at a painting and calligraphy exhibition. Zhang Honglin people are easy-going and seldom talk, so they don't stand out in the crowd. At the exhibition, many people praised Zhang Honglin's seal cutting. His seal cutting layout is decent and generous. The blank formed by the word "fine" echoes the blank under the word "sound" The word "nothing" is intertwined with the word "sound" and closely connected with the word "thing". The density design is quite ingenious, giving people a pure sense of beauty. To my surprise, Zhang Honglin is a judge by profession. Curiosity drove me to chat with him.

Zhang Honglin was born in Golmud, Qinghai on 1964, and went to Xinjiang with his parents. Influenced by his father, Zhang Honglin liked writing and drawing since he was a child. 1980, after Zhang Honglin was admitted to the normal school, he began to teach himself calligraphy and seal cutting. At that time, the material conditions were relatively poor, and it was difficult to see books and materials related to epigraphy and seal cutting. After many twists and turns, he bought a "Han Zheng" and several ancient bronze seals. If he got the treasure, he used all his spare time to read and copy hungrily. After a period of study, he had a certain understanding of China's calligraphy seal cutting.

After graduating from normal school, Zhang Honglin was assigned to the No.2 Middle School in Ruoqiang County, Xinjiang as an English teacher. Ruoqiang County is located in the sand sea, and the conditions in all aspects are very simple, but the hard conditions did not stop Zhang Honglin from learning calligraphy and seal cutting. After teaching, he shut himself in the dormitory, reading, writing and lettering. In order to improve his skills, Zhang Honglin took many correspondence courses and systematically mastered China's knowledge of calligraphy, seal cutting history, aesthetics, ancient Chinese and ancient philology, which laid a solid foundation for seal cutting creation.

After 1986, Zhang Honglin got to know Liu Shaogang and Li Gangtian, calligraphy seal engravers, and was employed by them. Liu Shaogang introduced him to join Jiang Weisong, a linguist and calligraphy seal engraver in China. The words and deeds of the three teachers gave him a deeper understanding of calligraphy and seal cutting.

Teaching by teachers, calligraphy is getting better and better. Zhang Honglin has made great progress in seal cutting. He learned seal cutting from ancient seals and Han seals, extensively studied the excellent works of seal cutting schools in Ming and Qing dynasties, learned from others and accumulated wealth. Take, Zhao, Qiao Dazhuang, for example, the style is dignified, beautiful and smooth. Reading Zhang Honglin's seal cutting works quietly, I feel quiet and noble, elegant and refined. Like a clear spring in a mountain stream, like a euphemistic warbler song, it is melodious and profound and intriguing.

From 65438 to 0988, Zhang Honglin's seal cutting works were selected for the first national seal cutting art exhibition.

1989, Zhang Honglin left Ruoqiang No.2 Middle School and became a judge of Korla Intermediate People's Court. He devoted all his spare time and energy to the creation of seal cutting. Zhang Honglin likes seal cutting very much. In his seal cutting creation, he showed himself freely, and he wandered around in studying inscriptions and learning ancient Chinese characters.

Although he is an amateur seal engraver, his diligence and outstanding talent make Zhang Honglin have a higher position in understanding seal engraving. He is good at finding and discovering creative inspiration in the remains of ancient Chinese characters, so that his creation is innovative and changeable, constantly climbing and improving, and he has embarked on a successful road of calligraphy and seal cutting creation.
