China, all those surnames have been cut off?

The Statistics of Surnames in China, written by Yuan Yi, director of the Institute of Genetic Development of China Academy of Sciences and the Research Center for the Origin and Development of Surnames in China, found that about 4 100 surnames were found in a survey of nearly 300 million people, while there were more than 24,000 surnames in history. In other words, 20,000 surnames have become extinct in China.

Zhao Qiru, president of the Huaxia Surnames Research Association, said that among about 4 100 surnames currently used in China, most of them are single-word surnames except for double surnames and triple surnames. Judging from the law, it is an inevitable law that the little surname disappears and the big surname prospers. During the Northern and Southern Dynasties, after Xianbei people entered the Central Plains, a large number of them changed to Han surnames, so the number of many small surnames was greatly reduced or even disappeared. During the Yuan and Qing Dynasties, a large number of foreigners entered the Central Plains, and after sinicization, they joined the ranks of Han surnames.

270 million people are surnamed Li.

Among the 100 common surnames, 87% of the national population is concentrated. Among them, there are 19 surnames accounting for more than 1% of the national population, namely, Li, Wang, Zhang, Liu, Chen, Yang, Zhao, Huang, Zhou, Wu, Xu, Sun, Hu, Zhu and Xu. The three largest surnames in China are Li, Wang and Zhang, accounting for 7.9%, 7.4% and 7. 1% of the total population respectively. The total population of the three surnames has reached 270 million, which is the largest three people with the same surname in the world.
