What are the classifications of art?

Fine arts includes four categories: sculpture, painting, design, and architecture.

1. People usually divide art into painting, sculpture, architecture and applied art (also called industrial arts or design art).

2. From the perspective of use, art can also be divided into two major systems: pure art and industrial arts.

① The so-called fine art mainly refers to painting, calligraphy, sculpture, seal cutting, and sometimes music and poetry that meet the needs of spiritual entertainment and appreciation for aesthetic purposes. Because these arts embody social cultural consciousness and aesthetic consciousness, some people sometimes call them literature and art;

② The so-called arts and crafts, we generally divide them into two categories: practical arts and special arts and crafts. They are mainly Including architecture, gardening, arts and crafts, and industrial design. These arts have certain utilitarian purposes and can meet people's material needs in food, clothing, housing, transportation and other aspects. Of course, this division is not absolute. Such as woven crafts, toys, silk flowers, etc., they are somewhere between practicality and pure appreciation. It can be seen that pure art does not exclude utilitarian purposes, and arts and crafts cannot completely abandon the pursuit of beauty.
