Kangxi Dictionary was published by Zhang Yushu and Chen Tingjing during the Kangxi period of Qing Dynasty.

It was updated on the basis of Mei's Dictionary and Zhang Zilie's Zhengzitong in Ming Dynasty.

The compilation of this book began in the forty-ninth year of Kangxi, that is, 17 10, and was completed in the fifty-fifth year of Kangxi, that is, 17 16, which lasted six years, so it was named Kangxi Dictionary.

Kangxi Dictionary was presided over by Zhang Yushu and Chen Tingjing, editors-in-chief, and completed by Ling Shaoxiao, Shi Kui, Zhou Qiwei and Chen Shiru.

The dictionary adopts radical classification and arranges words according to strokes.
