I have summarized Chinese characters from the perspective of philology. Chinese characters are symbolic, logical and vivid. As far as a single word is concerned, world figures are generally symbolic and vivid, but there is no logic. China's combination of Chinese characters is very logical, which comprehensively embodies the ancestors' cognition of nature, humanity and society. From an artistic point of view, Chinese characters not only follow their logic, but also consider the structural beauty of Chinese characters. This beautiful knot is unmatched by other characters in human history, and it is the basis of why Chinese characters can become art.
What is the essence of calligraphy? In short, it is the traditional culture accumulated by China for thousands of years. In a broad sense, it includes Confucianism, Taoism, Buddhism, Zen and other classic cultures and their spirits. Therefore, calligraphers in China should not only master the techniques comprehensively, but also be familiar with these classics, which is the "work beyond words" of calligraphy.
Calligraphy belongs to technology and art, but it belongs to philosophy in essence.
