Xu Mingyuan's penchant for calligraphy
One of Xu Mingyuan's hobbies is calligraphy. He dropped out of primary school for three years. At the age of ten, he studied at Ise National Drama School and Mingchun Society. He studied hard, copied scripts whenever he had time, and developed a good hand at calligraphy. His calligraphy describes the spirit with form, which has both form and spirit. 1956 as a member of the China people's literary delegation, he accompanied Premier Zhou Enlai to visit ten Asian and African countries. In Syria, China and Syria signed a memorandum of cultural exchange. There is no Chinese typewriter. The head of the literary delegation was very anxious and asked who could write Chinese calligraphy. Xu Mingyuan raised his hand. He copied nine memorandums of cultural exchange between China and Syria with a brush overnight, and the next day he drove from Beirut, Lebanon to Damascus, Syria with the translator Mr. li miao. Later, in Egypt, he wrote the Chinese part of the performance with a brush, which increased the cultural atmosphere of the performance.
