The simple and quaint soundtrack and simple and playful lyrics are refreshing. It turns out that rock music can do the same.
Later, it was common for Cui Jian to spare no effort to escort the band, and there were many words of praise. I have always accepted the strength and thoughts of Lao Cui, and naturally I pay more attention to and appreciate Confucius. After listening to their first album, I admired Lao Cui's outstanding eyesight and, more importantly, this excellent band.
First of all, their fresh and smooth arrangement is simple and beautiful, which is different from the forging of rhythm intensity and melody weight in general rock bands. Confucius seems to attach great importance to the creation of musical atmosphere, which gives people a refreshing feeling in plain and smooth, but in this simplicity, he has jumped out of a deeper and more tense musical personality. Only more rational and cultured music can feedback the sensitive emotional characteristics of music itself, and the foundation of Confucius Band can be seen. In all kinds of rock bands with different styles, which pay attention to the freehand brushwork of musicians' personality and devote themselves to the creation of music passion, the meticulous and stick figure styles of Ziyue's music are so outstanding.
I have long heard that Zi Yue's guitarist Lin Wen is a good guitarist obsessed with blues. Sure enough, his lively and colorful guitar playing, together with the rich and relaxed bass of Akino, Lu Xun's calm but not fierce drums and Zhang Yue's ingenious percussion music, constitute the serious, three-dimensional, lively and humanistic rock music characteristics of Zi Yue Band. A few days ago, Confucius added a keyboard player, Zhou Fei. It seems that they will continue to work hard on the musical atmosphere and integrity. Coupled with the participation of many folk music instruments, Confucius will be able to get rid of the western rock music mode and go further and further on their strange music road with distinctive Beijing culture.
What's more worth mentioning is that Akino is modern but not obscure, playful but not funny. Some humor is slightly bitter, and there are some faint sad voices and lyrics behind the ridicule, which still tell the people and things that are closely related to us and share weal and woe. We have been familiar with these people and things for a long time, but we have ignored them. We can feel them, but we deliberately forget them. Akino treats them lightly, and then plays them coldly in a complicated way. It seems erratic, but it is bleak. There is no despair and criticism in his works, some are indifferent, long and happy eternity, and more space and thinking in music are given to the listener to the maximum extent.
The scene of Confucius is indescribable. I admire their ability to interpret music and grasp the atmosphere of the scene. Excellent music and Akino's humorous and brisk performance style will always make Zi Yue's scene full of applause and laughter, appreciation and admiration. Last winter in the CD cafe bar, Confucius gave me another surprise completely different from listening to their album. Lao Cui said that "the scene is the soul of rock and roll", and Confucius' ability to control and complete live music is absolutely first-class. Different from several rigorous and intensive copies in the album to ensure the effect, Confucius' scene is more lively and full, with a bunch of musicians playing perfectly and freely, Akino's straightforward and rich singing, plus his relaxed and cheerful explanations and jokes from time to time, people can't help being infected and integrated into it.
At that time, Confucius added the word "Xie Shi" to their names.
"Yi", as the smallest unit to explain the world in China's I Ching philosophy, is the foundation of you, me and the world. I think they want their music to always stand in the center of nature and stick to the truth. Because rock music came for truth from the moment he was born. However, Confucius clearly grasped the most essential and fundamental characteristics of rock music, and we also have reason to believe that Confucius will be able to "interpret" the rock music they dedicated themselves to perfectly.
After listening to Zi Yue's new album, I believe they did it.
Their new songs are fuller, more sensitive, more angular and more natural than before. It can be seen that the unique rock music called "paper-cut rock" and "cross talk rock" by Confucius has evolved and become more avant-garde. Akino's singing seems to be still humorous, but a little more rational and calm. As far as the color of life is concerned, the so-called "music storytelling" is just picking up people's wisdom.
I also believe that the live performance of Confucius' new songs is more worth looking forward to.
Because they are good at and love to express and tell with music, because their quality of life and pulse are continued with music.
Zi Yue's latest album, Zi Yue II, was recently published by Wen Jing Company.
