Mastering the basic brushwork of seal script is the most critical basic skill to learn seal script well. Seal script emphasizes the pen used in the center, which is round and rich.
The counter-attack is round, the center is gentle and impartial. In the end, it will rebound flat and achieve a smooth and round effect.
But the roundness of seal script has no brush strokes. To achieve the artistic effect of stopping the circle, it is necessary to have consistent fibers and harmonious curves and straight lines.
Although the lines of Xiao Zhuan are smooth and changeable, there are only three basic strokes: point, straight and arc.
1, point
The point of seal script is different from that of regular script. The point of seal script must be round without edges and corners.
Its writing method is: write from the center of the point, rotate from left to right, pick up the pen while rotating, and move the pen to the center until it becomes a point to collect the pen. The points written must be full and powerful.
2. Straight pass rolling method
The vertical and horizontal writing method of seal script must be reversed, the head and tail should be rounded, and the stroke thickness should be consistent.
Such as horizontal writing: reverse into the Tibetan front to the first end, then turn the round front to the right, and turn back to the left at the end.
For example, direct writing means that the tip of the pen is reversed upward, slowly led upward to the apex, so that the tip is vertical, and then the tip is turned downward. When it reaches the bottom, don't stop, gently lift the front tip and pick it up. It should be horizontal and vertical, not skewed or bent.
When Xiao Zhuan writes straight paintings, the strokes must be centered, and the strokes should be full, rich and smooth.
3. Arc method
The arc painting in seal script is the same as the horizontal and vertical painting, except that it is changed into a song when passing the pen. Arc painting can be divided into angular arc, semi-circular arc, circular arc square arc and so on. Whatever the curvature, you should write roundly and powerfully.
The writing method is, for example, to write an arc: the center is rotated with a pen, the arc is upward to the right, the screw tube is rotated outward, the arc is downward to the left, and the screw tube is rotated inward.
You can also write the left semicircle first and then the right semicircle, leaving no trace at the junction below the circle. Generally, the method of lifting and turning is adopted at the bend, which is smooth.
