How to improve the ability of art appreciation?

Seeing that the problem has been labeled as artistic appreciation, aesthetics and fine arts, does it mean that this "beauty" does not refer to the aesthetic standards and standards in real life in general, but specifically to the appreciation ability of "artistic beauty"? If I am not mistaken, the best exercise to improve my taste is to appreciate more excellent works of art. I won't say that the study of art appreciation will be easier than professional art theory.

The probability that it is much more difficult is over 90%. Because this requires not only simple skills or skill learning, but also our own understanding and understanding of the development process of art, the emergence and rise of various art schools, and even the knowledge of society, culture and history.

"Appreciating the beauty of art" is not simply appreciating art, but the social and cultural depth behind art is the research object of this beauty.

Too academic, I declare, this is not to scare people, but to understand the beauty of art, we should spend more energy to understand what is behind art, all kinds of knowledge, all kinds of history … and then we can treat a work of art more comprehensively and objectively.

Appreciating excellent works of art is a start.

When we decide to appreciate a work of art, we can't just stay on the surface of the work of art, we need to know its content, theme and creative background (author background and social and historical background), which also determines why the work of art will eventually become such a state. For example, Turner, a pioneer of impressionism, used rich color changes and diverse brushstrokes to create more realistic works than traditional realism, but did not show cold and indifferent emotional paintings because of deliberate realism.

If we understand the social background at that time, including political, economic and cultural changes, we will know how this unique art observation method was applied to artistic creation, advocating nature and observing the real world in a freehand way. Another example is the Russian roving painting school that I personally admire. It is because of what kind of social changes have produced cultural changes, and what kind of thinking have those artists created the artistic style of shaping the body with big strokes.

The study of this kind of appreciation is a long process. It is not a purely professional skill discussion between me and my colleagues, such as skill foundation and creative conception, but it wants us to broaden our horizons, from art to the study and research of knowledge in many fields such as culture, society and history, and appreciate the artistic beauty of any work from a broader perspective.

For example, although I don't like deconstruction aesthetics myself, I also know that this theory stems from the criticism of structuralism in academic culture, and its core idea develops an unstable and open artistic concept without a central point or a variable central point, and pursues an artistic imbalance. It is also a fact that deconstruction culture or art theory lacks social practical value.

If I know nothing about these artistic styles or schools and the cultural and social background of the times, it will inevitably lead to my misunderstanding of these artistic schools and make it difficult to appreciate and evaluate them relatively objectively. Similarly, I don't like deconstruction, which doesn't mean that I think this school is useless. At least it has developed a new mode of thinking. I am still willing to tolerate this artistic concept.

Imagine if I know nothing about these cultural aspects, then I will definitely give up this artistic style because I don't understand it. What I may lose is not only my understanding of some artistic beauty, but also a different angle of thinking.
