Songshan Shaolin Wushu Vocational College was founded by Mr. Liu Baoshan, a national martial arts master and educator. Mr. Liu Baoshan was awarded the honorary title of outstanding inheritor of national folk culture, and founded Tagou Wushu School of Songshan Shaolin Temple on 1978. Over the years, students from Tagou Wushu School have participated in various Wushu competitions at home and abroad, and won 464 medals1piece, including 222 gold medals1piece, resulting in 29 international Wushu champions1piece and 255 national Wushu champions. Since 2003, the Student Art Troupe has participated in the performance of CCTV Spring Festival Gala for six times, and has gone abroad for cultural exchanges with national leaders and relevant departments for many times. With the continuous development of economy and society, the demand for high-level compound talents in all walks of life is becoming more and more urgent. In this form, in the heyday of Tagou Martial Arts School, Mr. Liu Baoshan clearly realized that students only have martial arts without cultural knowledge and application skills can not meet the social needs. Therefore, he was far-sighted. In 2004, he was admitted to Songshan Shaolin Wushu Vocational College, which truly combined martial arts with culture and cultivated modern high-quality talents with "both ability and political integrity, and both culture and martial arts". While vigorously implementing higher vocational education, the college strives to adhere to the talent training characteristics of "Wushu strengthens quality and culture shapes personality", reforms the traditional Wushu teaching mode in Wushu schools, integrates Wushu lessons into the organic whole of the professional curriculum system in the form of public courses, trains students in Wushu skills and educates them in Wushu culture, and pays more attention to the cultural edification of traditional Wushu, so that students can have both strong physique and noble cultivation. Cultivate students' positive spirit, courage to win every championship and enterprising spirit, and shape students' excellent qualities of sincere unity, hard work, hard work and helping the weak and the poor. In 2004, college students participated in the opening ceremony of the first World Traditional Wushu Festival. In 2005, college students' paper-cut works participated in the first college students' art festival in Henan Province and won the second prize of painting and calligraphy; At the end of 2006, college students won the first prize of literary performance in Zhengzhou private colleges and universities; In August 2007, college students participated in the opening ceremony of the World Special Olympics held in Shanghai. Appearing again and again, it shows the unique style of contemporary college students and is highly praised by relevant departments.

In terms of personnel training and employment orientation, the college actively absorbs foreign teaching and training experience and conducts extensive foreign exchanges, providing students with a broad platform for cultural exchanges between China and foreign countries. In order to meet the huge demand of overseas people from all walks of life to learn Chinese and China Wushu, in 2006, the college was recommended by the Henan Provincial Department of Education and designated by Hanban as the training base for international promotion of Chinese teachers. Every year, Wushu and Chinese teachers are selected from graduates to promote Chinese and China traditional culture abroad. At the same time, the college also undertakes the training task of Chinese promoters selected by the state from other parts of China before going abroad. In addition, the college has been selected by the relevant state departments as one of the bases for receiving young students from all over the world to study, exchange and visit in China. Under this situation and background, with the approval of the Henan Provincial Department of Education, our college cooperated with North China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower to set up an English (Chinese international promotion direction) undergraduate major featuring martial arts and Central Plains culture, which has been included in the national unified recruitment plan since 2007 and began to enroll students. In 2008, the undergraduate major of teaching Chinese as a foreign language was added. The college also has an international teaching center.
