Liaoning Provincial Museum, known as "Shengbo" by Shenyang people, is located in the northeast of the central square in Hunnan District, Shenyang (No.157, Wisdom Third Street, Hunnan District, near the new municipal government of Shenyang), covering an area of 83,2 square meters and a construction area of 1,13 square meters. It is divided into five business areas: exhibition, audience service, cultural relics warehouse, cultural relics protection and comprehensive business.
Formerly known as the Northeast Museum, it opened on July 7, 1949. It is the first museum established in New China, and enjoys a good reputation at home and abroad for its rich collections and distinctive features. There are 112, pieces (sets) of cultural relics in the collection, including Zhang Xu's Imitation of Wang Xizhi's Calligraphy in the Tang Dynasty, Cao E's Recitation, Four Poems of Ancient Poems in Cursive Style, The Picture of a Beautiful Lady in Zanhua, and Huizong's You Chuntu, the Lady of the State of Guo in the Northern Song Dynasty, and Thousands of Characters in Cursive Style.
The construction of the new Liaoning Provincial Museum is also quite distinctive. This project won the Luban Award, the highest prize of China construction project in 214.
