Do I need to take notes while reading?

You must do it, otherwise you will see it in vain. After a while, you will forget what story that book tells.

Reading notes refer to the notes taken when reading in order to record your reading experience or to sort out the exciting parts of the text. While reading, writing reading notes is a good way to practice reading. Memory is important for accumulating knowledge, but memory cannot be superstitious. For example, Lenin had an amazing memory, but he wrote diligently and wrote a large number of reading notes. As the saying goes: "A good memory is not as good as a bad writing."

According to the types of articles you read, the reading notes you write are also different. The following are some of the forms I commonly use:

(1) Excerpt. Mainly to accumulate vocabulary and sentences. You can excerpt beautiful words, wonderful sentences and paragraphs for future reading, memorization and application.

(2) Outline style. Aim to memorize the main content of the book. By writing a content outline, clarify the main and secondary content.

(3) Experience type. In order to write down the content that I feel the most deeply, write down what books I have read, which content in the book has taught me the most, and write down my feelings based on reality. That's random.

(4) Short form. In order to remember the outline of the story, after reading a long article, you can grasp the main content and abbreviate it into a short article.

(5) Imitation type. In order to apply what you have learned, you can imitate the wonderful sentences and paragraphs that you have excerpted to learn how to apply it.

Before writing reading notes, you must read the original text thoroughly. This is the basis for writing reading notes. Without this foundation, it is impossible to write reading notes, even the simplest excerpts, because without familiarity with the original text, you will not be able to find even the wonderful words and sentences in the original text, let alone other advanced writing methods.

No one has the kind of photographic memory. Your impression after reading it will definitely be much more profound.
