Tong is a young military calligrapher. Seven years ago, I read an eight-foot-long painting he sent me. Style cursive all the way in Wang Duo. Very eye-catching, very impactful and left a deep impression on me. A young soldier, such a good foundation, such a good understanding, hung in my heart for a long time. Because I am also from the army, and I have the same complex of loving calligraphy. Recently, Xiao Yong sent more than a dozen newly created works, including cursive script and checklist. There is a mirror screen of running script, as well as large characters similar to modern calligraphy and several seal cutting. Compared with seven years ago, his achievements in calligraphy creation surprised me and delighted me. His works have high artistic taste in creative thinking, form and connotation, which is inseparable from his diligent thinking, constant practice and courage to explore. Xiao Yong and I are fellow villagers in Anhui. My home is in Hexian County, and his home is in hanshan county. Hexian County and hanshan county used to be a county called Hehan County. He always calls me big brother kindly. Between brothers, we meet sincerely and have a pleasant conversation every time. Last year, Beijing Calligraphers Association and Beijing TV jointly held the "Second Olympic TV Calligraphy Competition". At the recording scene, Xiao Yong showed a huge couplet, "Dragon City Horse, Tiger Account Soldier". Full composition, each word is one meter square in diameter, traditional pen and ink, modern composition, dripping ink, thick and wide, very visual impact. The grand scene of the hero flashed before my eyes at once. Rows of heroes, dressed in armor, armed with swords and halberds, accompanied by shouts, dusty and unstoppable. I have seen many of his works, and I can deeply feel that he used his heart to release his feelings about military life. It seems that he is assembling a barracks square with pen and ink. Maybe some people don't like it, but it doesn't matter, and it can't belittle the real value contained in his works.
Xiao Yong is still very young. In recent years, his works have been continuously exhibited and won awards at the National Army Exhibition, showing a strong momentum. As a fellow soldier and comrade-in-arms, I hope he can grasp the balance between "receiving" and "releasing", both "releasing" and "receiving" well, and constantly return to tradition to absorb nutrients and provide impetus for better release.
