Zhang Hai, honorary chairman of China Calligraphers Association and president of Zhengzhou University Calligraphy College, commented that Li Fang is a calligrapher with high academic qualifications, with not only practical experience, but also theoretical observation and historical interpretation. His calligraphy has distinct characteristics of the times, which is prominently reflected in his large-character calligraphy. Many of his large-character works are vigorous but not rough, simple but not faded, which shows his solid foundation and ability to control pen and ink. At the same time, he actively and effectively explored the integration of inscriptions. In the practice of eclectic two styles, he gradually constructed his own calligraphy language. For example, his regular script is based on the theme painting school, but it obviously has the ethereal and elegant style of the theme painting school.
