Some names are linked together, while others are separated. The inscription is stamped with the word "one surname" as positive, and a surname can also be used. Calligraphy seals can only engrave surnames, not only the surnames on the works. You can engrave the surname and the first name respectively, with the surname in front and the first name in the back, and there is a seal between the two seals. It is rare to engrave only surnames.
Generally, the cases of carving separately are as follows: first, the needs of the layout of calligraphy works; Second, the author's cultivation and preferences; Third, the strokes of names are complicated, and the seals cannot be engraved.
Matters needing attention in seal signature
There are big and small seal characters, and the inscription is smaller than the text. The position of the seal should be moderate. The upper part should be slightly lower than the main text, and the lower part should be shorter than the main text, not flush with the bottom of the main text and not beyond the main text. Generally speaking, high is better than low.
The distance between the seal and the text should be appropriate, and the distance between the text and the text is equivalent to the line spacing of the text itself. Don't stretch the distance between words too wide or too tight. If it is too open, it will produce a feeling of looseness; Being too close will seem cramped and sultry.
From the development of Chinese characters, inscriptions are closer than orthography. Generally speaking, seal script and official script can be written in block letters, running script and cursive script; Regular script can be used in running script and cursive script; Running script can be cursive or running script.
