Characteristics of Jinshan Middle School in Shantou, Guangdong Province

In order to pursue the educational goal of "cultivating all-round talents with individuality", our school has comprehensively carried out characteristic education with "creative education, survival education, special education and emotional education" as its core content in accordance with the school-running philosophy of "inheritance, creation, truth-seeking and progress".

(1) Creative education. The school pays attention to the cultivation of students' innovative spirit and ability as an important quality to surpass their peers and meet the needs of future social survival and competition. We ask teachers to guide the practice of teaching and educating people with the concept of innovative education, and ask students to cultivate innovative spirit and innovative personality in the three-year education in senior high school. In order to better implement creative education, on the basis of creating classroom teaching experiments, our school highlights special activities such as "Creative Festival" and "Small-scale scientific and technological inventions". For example, the "Creation Festival" has been held since 1996 and has been held 1 1 times. Activities include recruitment activities, exhibition activities, thematic activities, academic activities, competitions and summary activities, involving culture, art, science and technology, sports, communication, self-design and exhibition. In 2002, our school's creative education received the attention of China Tao Xingzhi Research Association, and the school undertook the sub-project "Exploration and Research of Creative Education in Jinshan Middle School" and became the national experimental base of creative education. In the past three years, our school has carried out action research according to the project research plan and achieved some phased results. The students published poems such as Copying Poems from Jinshan, Growing Up, and Looking at Kapok Red again. The school has published Essays for Students of Inquiry Learning, as well as a number of teaching cases, teaching courseware and teaching papers. Award-winning works have emerged in provinces, cities and countries. The students who accepted the creative education experiment won the second prize of 1 and four bronze prizes in the national innovative works competition; There are 3 second prizes and 4 third prizes in the provincial innovation competition; 2 provincial children's innovation awards; The first prize of scientific and technological innovation works 1 1, the second prize 13 and the third prize 23. (2) Survival education. Paying attention to students' living environment and ability in reality and in the future, so that they can learn to learn, learn to survive, learn to cooperate and create a better life and future is the guiding ideology of our school's survival education. In order to make full use of the unique educational resource of student boarding, our school must adapt to the new living environment, interpersonal environment, learning environment and independent living mood, and formulate the "Jinshan Middle School Survival Education Design" to plan and deploy students' "self-care ability, communication ability and self-monitoring ability". We carry out survival education by holding exhibitions and competitions on survival knowledge and survival ability regularly, establishing the "Golden Red Cross Society" and establishing students' self-management committees. For example, in April 2000, students from some brother schools in our city watched the competition, and leaders from provincial and municipal ceramic research associations and the municipal government also gave guidance.

(3) Specialized education. Teaching students in accordance with their aptitude, cultivating and bringing up students with certain specialties and making these students stand out are the guiding ideology of special education in our school. The school has set up olympiad competition classes, computer competition training classes, art classes, calligraphy classes, student chorus teams, dance teams, sports teams and "Top Ten Student Associations" in mathematics, science, chemistry and biology, so that students with certain specialties can show themselves and develop their natural advantages and personality characteristics.

The achievements of special ability education are as follows: ① Every year, mathematics, science and student competitions have achieved leading results in Chaoshan area. In view of the educational background that emotional education is difficult to occupy its due position in school moral education and its research, the provincial emotional education research and related "exploration and research on emotional education for senior high school students" were carried out. Emotional education takes family education, friendship education and love education as the core, and is implemented in the form of school-based curriculum, forming a more comprehensive practice model.

For three consecutive years, emotional education has been carried out in different grades of the whole school, which has been welcomed and loved by students and warmly supported and highly affirmed by parents, attracting Shantou media to report emotional education in Jinzhong as a hot spot of education. The practice of emotional education enriches and deepens students' emotional world to a great extent, deepens students' understanding of affection, friendship and love, enhances parent-child feelings and classmates' friendship, and also plays a good role in enlightening and guiding the formation of students' healthy love concept.

The effectiveness of emotional education is embodied in monographs, student association publications, theme class meetings, class teacher's papers, subject education cases, solidarity and mutual assistance, and helping people in need. Among them, the monograph "Emotional Home" (Huang Huiyang, July 2002) was published by Shantou University Press, which was well received by the education sector and readers, and won the first prize of the 11th Guangdong Educational Science Research Achievement "Yellow Flower Award". Students' poetry collection and prose collection "Waves of Emotion" (edited by Lin Boyang) have also been published by Central University for Nationalities Press. The teachers and students of the whole school raised more than 800,000 yuan in various ways to help the 2002 graduates suffering from leukemia, showing the rich spring scenery of the emotional home of the Jin people.
