Mao Dinggong was a royal artifact in the late Western Zhou Dynasty. Casted by the imperial court, the inscription is known as the "history book". First of all, the full text traces the great achievements of Zhou Wenwang and King Wu, lamenting the turbulent times. Then it narrates that Xuan Wang appointed Mao Gong to manage internal and external affairs and had the right to announce the life of the king. King Xuan repeatedly taught Mao Gong to be diligent and love the people, cultivate one's morality and cultivate one's character, and gave him some utensils to show his encouragement. Mao Gong was cast on a tripod to commemorate and spread to future generations. This inscription calligraphy is extremely full and solemn, full of unparalleled classical beauty. So that calligraphers in the late Qing Dynasty have been fascinated by it since it was unearthed. This is an important historical material for studying the political history of the Western Zhou Dynasty in his later years, and it is also the most inscribed bronze wares in the Western Zhou Dynasty, which has considerable research value.
