What are the characteristics of Huang Shen’s calligraphy?

Huang Shen (1687~1768), whose courtesy name was Gongshou, also known as Yinglaozi, Donghai Buyi, Yinglaoshanren, etc., was a native of Ninghua (now part of Fujian). He lives in Yangzhou and makes a living by selling paintings. He is one of the "Eight Eccentrics of Yangzhou".

Huang Shen's calligraphy is derived from Zhang Cao, and incorporates more of his own calligraphy interest, giving people a sense of madness and difficulty. Among the Yangzhou calligraphers in the mid-Qing Dynasty, Huang Shen's calligraphy was quite individual.
