Eighteen sages of the Lotus Society is an anecdote of Buddhism. This anecdote happened in the Eastern Jin Dynasty. There is a famous monk named Hui Yuan. He once lived in Tuolin Temple in Lushan Mountain, Jiangxi Province with nine eminent monks such as Hui Zhi, Hui Yong, Dao Min, Tan Heng, Hui Rui, Tan Yu, Dao Jing, Dao Sheng and Tan Shun, and two eminent monks such as Buddhabhadra and Buddha Yeshe. Up to now, the picture of eighteen sages of Lotus House, which has been widely circulated, was originally a religious painting by Li (1080) in the third year of Yuanfeng (1049-106). Eighteen Sages of the Lotus Society is an inscription after Eighteen Sages of the Lotus Society, which was written by Li from his brother Li Chongyuan. Li Chongyuan, born in Tongcheng, Anhui Province, is unknown. During the Xining period in the Northern Song Dynasty, he was a scholar and ascended the throne at the same time as Li and Li Lianggong. He is called "Long Mian Li San". This inscription describes the relevant situation of the Lotus Society in great detail, and also puts a lot of pen and ink into the Eighteen Sages of the Lotus Society written by Li, a great painter in the Northern Song Dynasty. In the Ming Dynasty, famous calligraphers copied this passage many times, which became a very common writing subject in the law of documents.
