The border section reads: "In the winter of Wuwu, Uncle Gaihu Bishan recorded in Shanghai". Single-knife carving, vigorous brushwork.
Uncle Gai is the word, and Hu Bishan is the name. Both of them were celebrities in the same period-both seal engravers and painters in the Qing Dynasty.
After listening to Hu Zheng, he changed the word "fear" and "unafraid" and was named Bishan, Hubi Mountain, Fuchun Daling and Sancai Yanshi. In the 22nd year of Jiaqing in Qing Dynasty (18 17), he was born in huzhuang of Qing Dynasty (now Zhujiawu Village, Huanshan Township, Fuyang City).

Hu Zheng was born in a scholarly family. Being a maverick, he has a special interest in calligraphy and seal cutting, and he is diligent and conceited. "He's bitter day and night, his hand never stops waving, but he has no children. He didn't see the permission at first. " Even celebrities in western Zhejiang, such as Zhao and others, respect them as their predecessors, but "taste is refreshing." Never follow blindly and go with the flow, but have your own independent creative ideas. Until I was twenty-seven years old, I met Song Qian, a famous sculptor in Hangzhou. He is willing to hold an apprentice ceremony and become a lifelong teacher and friend. He has been in contact with each other for more than ten years.
(1818-1860), whose real name is Uncle Gai, whose real name is Naiqing, also known as Tielu, Xiguo Waishi, Yunju Shanmin, from Hangzhou. Good at calligraphy and painting, like epigraphy, especially good at seal cutting. He is one of the eight masters of Xiling, Hangzhou, and an outstanding inheritor of the pursuit and personality of seal cutting between China and India of Zhejiang School.
After Hu Zhen studied under Song Qian, his seal cutting style was deeply influenced by Song Qian. With his knowledge and self-cultivation, his seal cutting style is refined and neat, and his works are unique. He is an influential Zhejiang seal cutting master. However, Hu Zheng, who was born in Geng Jie, refused to engrave easily, so his works rarely spread among the people.
Hu Zheng and Song Qian have been teachers and friends for nearly 20 years. Song Qian died in the tenth year of Xianfeng (1860). Two years later, in the first year of Tongzhi (1862), Hu Zheng died in Shanghai at the age of 46.
The friendship between them as teachers and friends is remembered in many seals and calligraphy works.

There is no doubt that Shanghai is Shanghai. According to records, although Song Qian was born in Qiantang, Zhejiang (now Hangzhou), he traveled between Shanghai and Hangzhou at the same time, traveling with famous families in Shanghai.
Through the comparison table between AD and heavenly stems and earthly branches, combined with the birth years of two people, it can be inferred that it should be 1858. Two years before Song Qian died.
The content of this seal is "robbing his heart and raising his feelings".
What do these six words mean?
I still don't understand, just ask people around me.
A friend said: "These words may belong to' fighting to raise its gas? The evolutionary version of "winning and nourishing the heart" comes from Su Xun's heart. The original intention of these words in Mind is that soldiers should have the conditions to accumulate property in the coming war, protect their physical strength in the coming war, boost their morale in the war, and establish a mentality of pursuing new victories among the soldiers after victory. The practical significance of the seal after its evolution is more the so-called' nourishing the heart' technique, and it has no substantive significance. "
Another friend read it several times, and then looked up some information. I don't quite agree with this friend. I think it should be from "Mencius", "Keep your heart and nurture your nature to serve heaven". It is more likely to mean "keeping people's initial heart and improving their own essential connotation".
The friend retorted, "According to this logic. Then these six words should be the words' so if you want to raise my desire, you will indulge my feelings, if you want to raise my nature, you will endanger my shape, if you want to raise my heart, you will be happy, and if you want to raise my name, you will be confused' in Xunzi Zhengming. Originally, I wanted to satisfy my own desires, but I indulged my own desires. Originally, it was to maintain one's own life, but it harmed one's own body. Originally, it cultivated a happy mood, but it hurt a person's heart. Originally, it was to establish a reputation, but it disrupted its own behavior. "

"Some ancient seals are just temporary words-just like Zen machines. Why do people withhold words today? Must find the source? You just need to know that it means cultivating mind and nature. What's more, Qian and Hu are good friends, and I certainly don't want future generations to have disputes over him. "
The topic then shifted to the shortcomings of this seal-in addition to the normal traces of use, there is a small gap.
This question is more difficult to answer than the origin and meaning of printed words.
The only certainty is that this seal had such defects before it was sent to the current collectors this year.
Prior to this, this seal was in the hands of an old collector in Wuhan (this story was mentioned in another article about picking up leaks).
Therefore, it is difficult to verify when and who hit it, which caused this gap.
This question has not been verified yet, and there are new questions.
These two famous artists are good friends, but with this seal of cooperation, what is the division of labor? Because the impressions are similar, I asked several collectors. There is no exact answer until now.
