Calligraphy and slow life

Although I also write and write, to me, it's not calligraphy, because life has been separated from writing. Most of us are keyboard players, and writing, which was indispensable in the past, has become a luxury.

At night, when there is no one, turn on a light that is not so bright, sit and meditate for a quarter of an hour, get up and spread out the paper money, moisten the pen, melt the ink, and feel the dance on the paper.

Most students may be amazed in the first class: "It turns out that cursive writing is so slow!" "It turns out that writing is so rhythmic!" Me, too, even though I knew something before, I didn't delve into why and what the real connection is.

when it is real, with a full pen, it slowly glides from left to right and from top to bottom on the paper, and it is stable and balanced, and the whole elbow slides with breathing heartbeat, the process itself is very easy to make people calm down. It turns out that the hanging wrist is not so easy to shake. The reason why it shakes is probably because of the instability and messy thoughts in my heart.

When writing, it doesn't matter whether you have five fingers or three fingers. Just choose one that is comfortable and flexible, which is repeatedly emphasized by the teacher, and you don't have to pursue one. I always had five fingers before, but then I tried to hang my wrist with three fingers, which was actually very stable.

At the beginning, Da Zhuan is probably the best entry font with stability and mind. Like painting, it has a uniform head and tail but an uncertain beat. Besides calligraphy itself, it can also feel the interest of ancient Chinese characters.

Slowness is probably the biggest antidote to the habitual "smooth operator". If you slow down, you will find many shortcomings, such as rigidity, shaking hands and even sudden inability to write. We modern people live a hectic life, like clockwork, ticking away, never having a quiet moment. Even the chance of staring blankly by the window is occupied by the fluorescent screen. Occasionally, we go out for an outing, just like those who perform tasks, worrying about this and that, not to mention experiencing nature, which is very sad.

the place where calligraphy can be close to the mind lies in "slowness", not simply slowness, but in finding the sense of rhythm in slowness, between point-by-point painting, between horizontal and vertical, between up and down, on paper, in the air, on the wrist, on the elbow, on the waist and on the whole body.

It's a blessing to break away from the carefree illusion of "scribbling" and draw music notation on paper at the desk like a child.

Every word is created by one's own "Qi", and the skill of writing is one aspect, but if you find a slow, musical rhythm, let's put it aside for the time being, just like Master Hongyi's words, which are natural, pure and irrelevant.

Slow, you need to persist, and you can make a sustained breakthrough, which is also the place where patience and true mind are good.
