Originally named Xinyi Temple, Dayu Temple was built in the first year of Jianzhong in Tang Dezong (780). This year is the year of Shi Li dj, the 10 emperor of the Tang Dynasty (Emperor Dezong). Shi Li was born in the first year of Tang Tianbao (742).
At the age of 13, the "An Shi Rebellion" broke out in the imperial dynasty. In the 14th year of Tianbao reign of Emperor Xuanzong of the Tang Dynasty (755), Shi Siming, the longest and most proud general of An Lushan and Li Longji in the heyday of the Tang Dynasty, rebelled, overthrew the Tang Dynasty and replaced it. The rebellion lasted for more than seven years until the first year of Guangde in Tang Daizong (763).
The Seven Years' War led to the weakness of the Tang Dynasty. When the rebels rushed into the palace, Li Longji, who had ruled in the Tang Dynasty for 46 years, had to flee.
However, his relatives, ministers and people suffered greatly, not only the imperial power was shaken, the country was ruined, but also the family was ruined and the society was depressed. For example, seven of Shi Li's 19 brothers and sisters died in the war.
This made Emperor Daizong deeply feel the impermanence of life and wanted to seek sustenance in Buddhism. Before becoming emperor, Dai Zong ordered Emperor Li of Su Zong to suppress the rebellion of An Shi for three years. In 762, in the first year of Daizong Baoying, Su Zong died of illness, and Daizong succeeded to the throne, sending troops to quell the four-year rebellion. After the rebellion subsided, he began to lead officials and people to preach Buddhism, which made Buddhism flourish all over the country.
The birth of Gao 'an Xinji benefited from the imperial edict of Emperor Daizong and the promotion of Mazu, a monk in Hongzhou. Mazu, with a common surname of "Ma" and a first name of "Yi Dao".
The styles of temples are all similar. Chinese calligraphy is also easy to think of posture, and the left and right side doors are universal and free.
As soon as you enter the temple gate, it is a lake. The corridor divides the lake into two parts, both of which are symmetrical.
Even the words on the fence are corresponding, and on the left is that everyone loves life.
On the right is materialistic. Look at this literal meaning. This lake should be the release pond of the temple.
There are three statues in the lake. Needless to say, the one in the middle is Guanyin bodhisattva. Is it a golden wedding?
There are a lot of fish in the release pond, some are edible fish, and some are koi fish as a landscape.
This is the main hall, the Heavenly King Hall. Generally, you can't take photos casually in temples.
There are a lot of fish in the release pond, some are edible fish, and some are koi fish as a landscape.
There is also a god of wealth temple next to Guan Yu. There are three gods of wealth in our folk, and Guan Yu belongs to Wu Caishen.
Passing the palace. Come to the second hall, there is a tower in front of the hall, I really don't know what its name is.
These are all donated by believers, including some pillars in the main hall with the names of the donors engraved on them.
There are also stone carvings of two elephants at the door, which read "get rich".
The following are the names of some donors, which have been commemorated by monuments.
Names are also engraved on the pillars to praise these believers.
Let's continue to talk about the origin of this Zen temple. The temple is located outside the Chaoyang Gate in the south of Gao 'an City, near the Jinhe River, and its common name is "Beach Head". Before the temple was renamed "Dayu", it was unknown because it did not leave any historical materials.
However, 45 years later, in the year of Bao Liyuan in Tang Jingzong (825), it was recorded that the abbot of Xinnan Temple was already a stupid Zen master. Unfortunately, there are only a few details about the great fool Zen master in historical materials, which are scattered in legendary historical materials all over the country. The general situation is listed as follows:
Fool, what's his surname, his birthday and address, and the historical materials are unknown. I only know that he is a lonely Buddhist who is difficult to make friends. Before he got his father's law and seal and became the abbot of Gao 'an Xinyi Temple, he traveled all over the world looking for famous teachers.
The companion I met was a famous monk named Huang Berberis. Phellodendron amurense was born in Wan 'an, Quanzhou (now Fuqing, Fujian). He was deeply impressed by Huaihai, the master of Baizhang Temple in Fengxin County. He once built a temple in Qianfeng Mountain (later changed to Huangbaishan Mountain, now belonging to Yifeng County) in Gao 'an County, Hongzhou. Because of his unrestrained temperament, he made a wide range of friends, learned the law accurately, taught people tirelessly, and his reputation spread far and wide.
Dayu Temple is famous for its great Buddhist masters. Since then, it has not only become a Buddhist shrine in Gao 'an, but also a tourist attraction in Gao 'an. As early as the Northern Song Dynasty, famous writers Su Shi, Su Zhe and Lu You all visited Dayu Temple and left famous sentences on the temple wall. In the first year of Qingyuan in the Southern Song Dynasty (A.D. 1 195), Cheng Zujian of Taifu Temple was demoted to Shaozhou because he wrote a letter to offend the Prime Minister Han Tuo. Later, when he moved to Gao 'an and lived in Dayu Temple, he also called himself "Dayu Zuo". It is estimated that the Dayu Temple at this time was withered by the war, so that Lu Zujian lived as a "dead lamp ancient Buddha, a decaying cobweb window". Lv Zujian wears sandals and goes up the mountain to collect herbs for a living. After his death, he was buried in Dayu Mountain Temple, and the mausoleum was named "Lv Gong Pile". Scholars in Gao 'an have left praises for Dayu Temple.
