Wu Weijia's introduction

Wu Weijia (1960-) is a native of Nantong, Jiangsu. 1982 graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Nanjing University of the Arts, majoring in oil painting. He studied under Mr. Su Tianci and devoted himself to inheriting and developing Mr. Lin Fengmian's artistic concept of combining Chinese and Western. His artistic creation spans many fields, such as oil painting, Chinese painting and calligraphy, and his works show Wu Weijia's superb artistic talent and artistic attainments. In his recent artistic practice, Wu Weijia intends to combine the expressive features of China's painting and calligraphy with those of oil painting, break the boundaries between different art forms, and look for similarities between eastern and western paintings. He advocates adding linear expression to the picture space, approaching the oriental viewing experience with one-dimensional and two-dimensional reading, and emphasizing writing in the performance of his works, thus creating his own unique artistic ontology.
