Brief introduction of Huang Songtao
Huang Songtao (1900-2002), formerly known as Hua, was born in Wuhan, Hubei Province, and was nicknamed Songtao, Mufu and Fengqi Shanmin, later named Youcaotang. I studied poetry, calligraphy and painting, seal cutting and guqin playing with my uncle Huang Yuting. New figures, flowers and birds, landscapes, especially green landscapes and rain scenes, are vigorous and simple, and the colors are gorgeous and moist. Later, he studied animals from Mr. Xiong Songquan in Shanghai, and studied seal cutting and bamboo painting from Tu Youyou in Nanchang. Huang Songtao's calligraphy began with Painting Praise and Ma Gu Xian Tan, followed his uncle's life in court, and studied Wang Xizhi's Huairen Shengjiao and Sun Zi's Shu Pu. In the communication with Mr. Huang Hongtu, he devoted himself to the study of steles, and studied Twenty Records of Longmen, Statue of Wei Qi and Cui Jingying. "And extensive search for inscriptions and ancient bronze inscriptions, good at Oracle Bone Inscriptions, Zhong Dingwen, Han Li, Wei Ti, cursive script, etc.
