Gigi Lai village watchtowers group

Diaolou-It originated in the late Ming Dynasty and flourished in the 1920s and 1930s with the development of overseas Chinese culture. It perfectly combines the exquisite romance of European and American architecture with the simplicity of oriental architecture, integrates flood control and bandits prevention, and is scattered around Kaiping village like a guardian, faithfully guarding overseas Chinese relatives, completing the grand plan of overseas Chinese to get married and start a career, and witnessing a sad history. Its standing posture is a homesickness that a wanderer can't touch in a foreign land. Most of the buildings with western characteristics in China were forcibly transplanted by western colonialists, but Kaiping Diaolou fully reflects the confidence, openness and tolerance of overseas Chinese in actively absorbing foreign advanced cultures. They combined their own aesthetic taste and incorporated what they saw and heard into the construction of the watchtower. Different places of residence and different aesthetics have created diverse and eclectic Kaiping Diaolou. It has created a unique and unparalleled artistic culture in the history of architecture.

Pear Garden, a bright pearl in overseas Chinese gardens, combines traditional gardening with the characteristics of Jiangnan water town. Its unique architectural artistic style of combining Chinese and western styles is unique in China gardens, comparable to the four famous gardens in Guangdong. Huanhua Village, Yi Bei Township, Kaipingtangkou Town, a famous hometown of overseas Chinese in Guangdong, is a garden villa founded by the late overseas Chinese Xie Weili in the early 20th century. It took ten years to build the garden, and 1936 completed the whole project. Relying on the Grand View Garden depicted in A Dream of Red Mansions, the garden is eclectic in the classical architectural art of China gardens, and integrates the architectural features of villas popular in Europe and America at that time, realizing the integration of Chinese and Western cultures, thus enjoying the reputation of a small view garden.

The artistic conception of the pear garden is a small bridge with flowing water. The layout of the pear garden can be roughly divided into three parts: villa area, big garden area and small flower garden area. The three areas are separated by artificial rivers or fences, and the three areas are skillfully connected by bridges or corridors, which makes people feel that there are gardens in the garden, landscapes, pavilions and pavilions, elegant and unique, which makes people feel wonderful.

The pear garden not only has the charm of China gardens, but also absorbs the western sentiment of European and American architecture. It is a first-class garden built by overseas Chinese in China, and it is also a well-known garden with a relatively complete combination of Chinese and Western culture discovered in China.

The main entrance of Liyuan is in the south corner of the villa area, and the Liyuan Canal is by the door (to the south). The word "Liyuan" in the middle of the gate is both rigid and flexible, chic and sleek. It was written by calligrapher Wu Daorong in the 23rd year of the Republic of China (1934).

Enter from the main entrance, walk west along the canal corridor for about 100 meters, and enter the villa area. There are six villas and an ancient watchtower in the villa area, of which two villas, Li Pan and Pan Wen, are the most magnificent. The roof of the villa is a double-eaved building in ancient China, covered with green glazed tiles and cleverly overhead, which has become a practical insulation layer. Indoor floors and stairs are paved with colorful Italian stone, which has been shining for more than 60 years. This is the ability of a skilled craftsman to reach the peak, which is amazing. The interior wall is decorated with large-scale color murals, reliefs and large-scale gold-plated wood carvings with the theme of ancient China characters; The colorful relief is Liu Bei's three visits to the cottage, and the painted wood carving is the national seal of the six countries. The figures are lifelike, beautifully carved and cleverly composed. Western fireplaces are installed on the walls of each floor; Anti-mosquito screens are installed in all windows; There are ancient lamps hanging under the ceiling; Each floor is decorated with exquisite sour branch furniture, which looks antique and antique. Water and toilet facilities, such as pumps, tubs, toilets and water tanks, are all purchased from abroad. The heavy door at the door is locked deeply, which makes people feel mysterious-the family anti-theft facilities at that time can be seen. The fourth floor is the setting of Mr. Xie Weili's ancestral temple. Not only is the construction technology unique and unique, but the inscription on the shrine also reads: Living in Dexing nationality in Gong Wei, Zude Fenglong protects the country. This shows that the master's spirit of loving the nation and the country is really admirable!

On the west side of the villa area is a big garden, which is arranged in a north-south direction (that is, facing south), mainly with Liyuan Archway and Li Ben Daosheng Archway as the axis.

Liyuan archway, south of the canal, is far from Hushan. Around the archway, there are two iron ring whips with a height of 20 meters and a diameter of 30 centimeters, which stand towering towards Hushan, as if to curb the arrogance of the "tiger", which played a role in rationalizing people's belief in geomantic omen at that time and set off the archway more solemnly and grandly. Stepping into the archway, you can see a finely carved granite lion squatting symmetrically on both sides, right male and left female, showing the spirit of dominating the town. Along the goldfish ponds on both sides of the cement road, you can reach the slender Li Ben archway, behind which is a large square flower auxiliary. There is a building complex on the east side of the archway. In front of it is a Roman building made of steel plates and cement stone rice, called the Bird's Nest. Later, a beige cement building was built, full of flowers. The craft is unique, shaped like a birdcage, and there is a goldfish pond at the bottom, which is called the birdcage and Hua Teng Pavilion. There is a tower villa named Yu Pei in the southwest corner of the big garden. The villa is small and exquisite, and the construction technology is first-class. There are four-story buildings in it, which were conceived by the garden owner, and some of them are modeled after ancient China, Japanese, Italian-Tibetan and Roman. The patterns on each floor are carefully selected and skillfully connected with four red hearts to form a round pattern with unique love. The colorful Italian stone mill is embedded in the center of each hall and room. Presumably, it is the master's heart-to-heart love for Huei-fang. This villa was built by the owner to commemorate my beloved concubine, which can be described as ingenious.

Under the big garden, there is a basement made of reinforced concrete, and there is a dark passage connecting the inside and outside. The big garden is surrounded by winding corridors, which connect the whole garden building into a whole, making people feel natural and comfortable.

The "small garden" is located in the south of the "big garden" and the villa area, separated by a canal. Between the villa area and the small garden, there is a "Hongqiao" connection, and there is an evening fragrance pavilion on the bridge. Visitors can go upstairs to enjoy the garden scenery and have a unique flavor. The composition of the small garden is unique and Sichuan-style. There is a Uighur canal in the middle of the park, and a "playing with water" bridge is connected to the east, and there is a "Changchun" pavilion on the bridge; The "Guanlan" bridge is connected to the west, and there is a pavilion on the bridge. The small garden is mainly composed of three pavilions: Cui Yiting, Changchun Pavilion and Yongle Pavilion. At the top of the "Cui Yi" Pavilion, there are several gray carved ancient murals of the Eight Immortals crossing the sea, with bright colors and vivid characters. There is a golden dragon and a chandelier at the top, just like the pearls it spits out, lifelike and full of praise. These three pavilions are all very stylish, exquisite and beautiful.

The five-story white tower next to Changchun Pavilion is also exquisite, exquisite, small, unique and fascinating. It is said that it is Bing Ding, the Vulcan of Zhu Rong, who threatened Zhennan in order to extinguish fireworks, protect the garden. There are six villas such as Pan Wen and Li Pan and a watchtower in the villa area, which combines Chinese and western architectural styles. Its external yellow walls and green tiles, cornices and arches are magnificent and unique in the ancient style of China court; The interior design is elegant and comfortable, antique, and the hall is decorated with screen murals, mahogany chairs, crystal palace lanterns, flower bookcases, ocean basin bathtubs, western-style fireplaces, Xiang embroidery tide carvings, digging wells for water diversion and manual water supply. The rooms in the hall are elegant, comfortable, quiet and warm, which is simply a paradise. The big garden is full of trees, birds and flowers, towering old trees and winding cloisters, which makes people relaxed and happy. In a word, the whole pear garden is not only unique in architectural composition, but also unique in planting flowers and trees. It conforms to the trend of the times and is cleverly arranged in a planned way to plant various famous flowers and grasses, landscape trees, timber trees and fruit trees. Everything is dazzling. Nowadays, ancient trees are towering, trees are shaded, green pavilions are hidden in the garden, flowers are blooming, flowers and birds are singing, and tourists are relaxed and happy in the garden. Unfortunately, when War of Resistance against Japanese Aggression broke out, Wei Li, the owner of the park, went to the United States with his family, so all the projects originally planned for the pear garden had to be stopped, which made people lament.
