Brief introduction to the scenic spots of Wenxing Building:
Wenxing Tower, also known as Wenfeng Tower, commonly known as Nanmen Tower, is located on the east side of the southern end of Nanpu Road. The satellite tower * * * has five floors and is about 23.13m high. It consists of three parts: tower foundation, tower body and tower tip. The tower foundation is 2.25 meters high, 8 meters in diameter and 7.5 meters long, and is made of stones. It is octagonal from tower foundation to tower top.
The tower is an octagonal pyramid roof-type brick tower, with a total height of19.08m.. There are ten stone steps between each floor, and visitors can climb to the top of the tower through the stairs, which is1.8m high. There are four doors and four windows on each floor of the tower, which can be seen from all directions. The south gate of the tower is engraved with the word Wenfeng, and the calligraphy is simple and elegant.
This tower was built in the Ming Dynasty. In the twenty-first year of Jiajing in Ming Dynasty (A.D. 1542), Chen Qian, a magistrate of a county, and Zhu Zan, an Oracle, built it to encourage students to study hard. In the seventh year of Kangxi in Qing Dynasty (AD 1668), Xiong Deng, a magistrate of a county, saw that the satellite tower was decaying, so he rebuilt it easily. With a history of more than 450 years, it is a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit and the only existing ancient pagoda in Ezhou. 1988, Ezhou Municipal People's Government allocated special funds for maintenance.
