The overall topography of Meishan is high in the west and low in the east, high in the south and low in the north. The territory is crisscrossed with mountains, rolling hills and dense river networks. In the middle is the broad Minjiang River Valley Plain. Guangdong Mountain in Hongya County is the highest peak in the city, with an altitude of 3 172 meters. The mountains in the south are steep, the valleys are mostly V-shaped, and the terrain is cut and broken, with an altitude of more than 1000 meters. Meishan was founded in the third year of Jianwu in the Southern Qi Dynasty (496), and Tong Qi Zuojun was built in the southern boundary of Wuyang County, Qianwei County. During the Southern Liang Dynasty (520-527), Zuo Jun City, Tong Qi was renamed as Tong Qi County, and Tong Qi County was established, and the county was ruled as the same city.
