The Present Situation of Children's Palace in Changning District

Changning District Children's Palace has more than 40 classes of folk music, western music, vocal music, dance, fine arts, calligraphy, arts and crafts, chess and cards, with more than 3,000 students. Some key features of the Children's Palace were named as student art troupes by the municipal and district art education committees, such as: Shanghai Student Art Troupe Minle Group 1, Shanghai Student Art Troupe Craft Performance Group 2, Shanghai Student Art Troupe Calligraphy and Painting Club, Changning District Student Art Troupe Dance Branch, Changning District Student Art Troupe Chorus Branch and Changning District Go Training Center for primary and middle school students.

Students from Children's Palace have won more than 2,000 prizes in international, national and Shanghai competitions, and sent more than 90 outstanding students to specialized institutions such as the Middle School Attached to Shanghai Conservatory of Music, the Primary School Attached to Shanghai Opera School, Shanghai Dance School and Shanghai Arts and Crafts School.

Changning District Children's Palace is an open unit, which receives more than 10,000 guests from all over the world every year, including the wives of some heads of state and government VIPs above ministerial level. Students from folk music, dance, arts and crafts, vocal music, fine arts, calligraphy and other groups in Children's Palace also went to Japan, Singapore, France, Hong Kong and other places to exchange performances.

Changning Children's Palace 1960 was rated as "National Advanced Children's Collective", 1992 as "National Advanced Children's Off-campus Education Collective" and "National Advanced School Art Education Unit" in 2000. In addition, it was rated as "Shanghai advanced unit of off-campus education" for three times and 1 time as "Shanghai advanced collective of mass cultural work".
