I think it's a good idea to start with ancient posts. As a model of pen writing, Yan Liu has many shortcomings, which are not satisfactory. The word Wang is good, but there are few positions to choose from, and it is still a question whether it is easy to get started. Here, I would like to recommend a better model: Zhao Mengfu's Tao Te Ching. Running scripts should also learn from Zhao, such as Fu on the Red Wall.
Personally, I think Zhao Mengfu's handwriting is the best.
Copying that is much better than those pen copybooks now.
Or classic regular script like many pagodas and monuments.
Official script is actually possible, but it is slow to write.
Just like Cao Quanbei.
