Shandong calligrapher Liu Hongyu

Liu Hongyu (1936~) was born in Wushan, Shaanxi. Graduated from the Fine Arts Department of Northwest Normal University. He is a member of China Senior Calligraphy and Painting Research Association and Shandong Calligraphers Association. His works have participated in various art exhibitions held in the province and the National Painting and Calligraphy Grand Prix for many times and won the Excellence Award. Some of his works have been exhibited in Hong Kong and Japan. His book has won the second prize in dozens of major book competitions, such as China Contemporary Couplet Calligraphy Competition, China Hard Pen Calligrapher's Works Exhibition in Hong Kong, "Guangming Cup" National Hard Pen Calligraphy Competition and "Snowflake Cup" National Hard Pen Calligraphy Competition. His works were collected and carved by the Yellow River Forest of Steles, Silent Forest of Steles, Hanyuan Forest of Steles and Wang Duo Painting and Calligraphy Art Exhibition Hall. Biographies have been compiled into Selected Contemporary Paintings and Calligraphy in China, Dictionary of Hard Pen Calligraphy Appreciation in China, Dictionary of Contemporary Writers and Artists in China, and Who's Who in China Contemporary Art World, etc.
