Qi Baishi's representative works include: "Dongting Junshan", "Chicks Coming Out of the Cage", "Ink Shrimp", "The Sound of Frogs Ten Miles Out of the Mountain Spring", "Borrowing Mountains to Recite Poems", etc.
1. "Dongting Junshan"
"Dongting Junshan" is a Chinese calligraphy and painting created by Qi Baishi. This landscape work, with its concise composition, delicate and bright colors, subtle brushwork and precise sparseness, can be regarded as a wonder among Baishi landscape paintings.
There are people and houses painted in the close-up view, and a rising red sun and distant mountains in the distant view. Taking up a large area in the middle of the picture are three sailing boats, showing the red sun and sails. All the auspicious meanings are captured in the pen, which was created with Shiraishi's heart and passion.
2. "Chicks Coming Out of the Cage"
"Chickens Coming Out of the Cage" is an ink-and-ink painting on paper created by Qi Baishi in modern times. This painting is self-titled "Old Man Baishi, a rich man with three hundred stone seals, likes to paint and open his cage", and bears the seal of "Qi Da" Zhu Fang. The picture shows a bamboo cage with 5 chicks out of the cage. The depiction of the bamboo cage is straightforward and casual. The brush is rough and the brush strokes of calligraphy are absorbed to build the upright structure of the bamboo cage. The shades of the brush and ink are used to express the three-dimensional sense of the bamboo cage.
The gate of the bamboo cage has been opened, and five chicks are pecking and playing outside the bamboo cage. The shape of the chick is rendered with moist light ink, and the head and wings are slightly dotted with thick ink. Although it is freehand, the shape is realistic, and only a few strokes fully reveal the chick's cuteness, smallness and exquisiteness.
3. "Ink Shrimp"
"Ink Shrimp" is an ink painting created by Qi Baishi of China in 1942. The size is a vertical axis, 70 cm in length and 34.5 cm in width. The shrimps in this painting are flexible and translucent, with regular density, appropriate shades, and different moods, which is endearing. The eyes of the shrimp have also changed from small black dots to horizontal dots, which better expresses the expression of the shrimp.
4. "The sound of frogs comes out of springs ten miles away"
"The sound of frogs comes out of springs ten miles away" is an ink painting painted by the modern painter Qi Baishi for Lao She in 1951; it was later included in "The Complete Works of Qi Baishi" , is one of Qi Baishi's masterpieces; as of July 2023, it is now collected in the Museum of Modern Literature of China.
The painting depicts a torrent pouring out from the rocks in the mountain stream against the backdrop of distant mountains. Six tadpoles swayed their little tails in the torrent and swam down the river, playing in the water lively. Scene; this painting is Qi Baishi's artistic expression after many times of tempering tadpoles.
5. "The Poetry and Grass of the Borrowing Mountain and Yin Hall"
The stone seal of "The Poetry and Grass of the Borrowing Mountain and Yin's Hall" was published in the autumn of 1928. It was preceded by Fan Fanshan ten years ago. The preface to the poem manuscript written by Old Man Baishi. This poem was written by Jun Shiraishi in Toshin style. The printing volume at that time was very rare. There is an inscription in the old man's handwriting on the book jacket: "Mr. Kudo recited it clearly, and Shiraishi gave it to me." The seal reads "Shiraishi gave it to me."
