My first teacher of calligraphy

I am a calligraphy lover. Although my writing is not very good, playing with pen and ink for a long time is also one of the ways to relax after work. I have been in contact with calligraphy for the first time since the third grade of primary school, and I have always loved and persisted. My first calligraphy teacher was not a famous calligrapher, but my Chinese teacher and head teacher Li.

My primary school is in a remote town on the outskirts of Guangzhou. Almost all the students around me are children of rural families, living in poverty, and have no conditions to go to any extracurricular classes or interest classes, even Zhou Zhou. I remember when Miss Li taught our class, we were just in the third grade, and she had just transferred from schools in other districts and counties. Miss Li has thick black hair, a round face and bright eyes. She is tall, well-proportioned and has a loud voice, giving people a feeling of not being angry and arrogant. Teacher Li is strict in discipline and full of love. Under her teaching and management for four consecutive years, the collective cohesion, class discipline and academic performance of our class are better than those of the class next door.

Miss Li is my favorite primary school teacher and one of the most important teachers in my life. In my memory, Miss Li always gives me a warm and amiable feeling, and I can even find a kind of parental love in her. Maybe my academic performance is not bad, especially in Chinese. In short, she has always attached great importance to and cared about my study and life. What I am most grateful for is that Miss Li is still my first teacher of calligraphy. She helped me open the door to the art of calligraphy and gave me a chance to appreciate the elegance and beauty of calligraphy and painting.

Miss Li is not a professional calligraphy teacher. Strictly speaking, she is not even an amateur. But her hard pen writing is neat and beautiful, and her blackboard writing level is vigorous and powerful. Among many teachers, her writing left the deepest impression on me. I remember that it wasn't long before the first semester of Grade Three started. As the head teacher, Miss Li asked me to stay in the classroom after school and wait for her. It turned out that she saw that I usually wrote neatly. Recently, the District Education Bureau held a calligraphy competition for primary school students. She wanted to arrange for me to attend, so she asked me if I could write in Chinese calligraphy. She was not surprised when I answered no. She just silently opened a stack of copybooks for practicing calligraphy and put the brush and ink box prepared in advance in front of me. Then, she told me calmly: no, it doesn't matter, I'll teach you.

From that day on, every day after school, Miss Li will leave me, prepare pen and ink, and teach me to learn from the most basic calligraphy skills. Maybe there is a little bit of calligraphy gene in his bones, or maybe he doesn't want to live up to Mr. Li's teachings. I have been practicing for less than two weeks, and my writing is a bit decent. Under the guidance of Teacher Li, I barely finished two works and handed them in for the competition. After a while, the results of the awards came out. Unexpectedly, my entry was awarded the second prize by the District Education Bureau! (It is estimated that all the contestants at that time were very Shui Pi ~) This unexpected award made many teachers sit up and take notice of me, and also gave me the opportunity to attend a calligraphy training class organized by the Education Bureau for free and formally accept the training of professional calligraphy teachers, thus turning calligraphy into a far-reaching hobby in my life. Whenever I write and practice calligraphy in my spare time, I will inadvertently think of my first calligraphy teacher and how she taught me how to practice calligraphy. Her every look, every movement, seems to be deeply engraved in my mind.

Miss Li is about the same age as my parents, and they are both retired people who are almost 70 years old. When I saw her occasionally in recent years, her hair was still thick, her white hair was not too much, and her mental state was still good. Although she has entered old age, her optimistic and cheerful personality has not changed. I often see her sharing life moments in the WeChat circle of friends and traveling around with a group of friends. I feel warm and gratified to see my respected teacher healthy and happy. It is said that noble people help each other and famous teachers guide each other. I have always been grateful to meet a famous teacher who cares about and takes care of me like Miss Li in my life. Today, I will write it down in my words and wish her a long and healthy life, happiness and peace.
