What are the four quintessences of China?

China's four national quintessences refer to Chinese Peking Opera, China Wushu, China Medicine and China Calligraphy.

Chinese Peking Opera is one of the five major dramas in China. The scene layout of Beijing opera pays attention to freehand brushwork, and the accompaniment is mainly gongs, drums and huqin, which is the "top spot" of Chinese opera. Peking Opera was merged with many other operas after the four Huizhou classes entered Beijing in the Qing Dynasty. It originated in the Qianlong period of the Qing Dynasty and reached unprecedented prosperity in the Republic of China. It is also included in the intangible cultural heritage.

China Wushu is based on the traditional culture of China and has a long history. It first appeared in the Shang and Zhou Dynasties. It is the crystallization of the wisdom accumulated by the working people in China for a long time, and it is a very valuable cultural heritage of China. Wushu is defined as the skill of stopping fighting, which can be used for self-protection and physical fitness.

Traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), referred to as TCM, is a subject that studies human physiology, pathology, disease diagnosis and prevention. Chinese medicine can be traced back to primitive society at the earliest, and the theory of Chinese medicine has basically taken shape in the Spring and Autumn Period and the Warring States Period. In ancient times, doctors of traditional Chinese medicine gradually formed a theoretical system of traditional Chinese medicine on the basis of accumulating experience after collecting various cases.

China's calligraphy has a longer history and is an ancient art of writing Chinese characters. The earliest calligraphy in China was Oracle Bone Inscriptions in Shang Dynasty. The basic forms of calligraphy are Oracle Bone Inscriptions, bronze inscription, big seal script, small seal script, official script, cursive script, regular script and running script. Chinese characters are an important factor in China's calligraphy, because China's calligraphy was produced and developed in China culture.

However, with the continuous development of the times, China's four national quintessences are constantly being forgotten. There are fewer and fewer people listening to Beijing opera, and there are really only a handful of people who can sing Beijing opera and are willing to learn it. China Wushu has gradually become a cultural performance. Although there are many opportunities to use Wushu now, it is difficult and takes a long time to learn, which makes many people flinch.

Now the medical field is slowly eroded by western medicine, and the rapid curative effect of western medicine makes more and more people willing to accept western medicine treatment. It's not that Chinese medicine is unreliable, but that some people who study Chinese medicine are really unreliable. Not to mention China's calligraphy. In this age of forgetting words, there are few opportunities to write, let alone write good calligraphy works.

I hope more and more people can learn the traditional culture of China, so that these quintessence can be passed on. After all, the ancestors inherited the essence of the Millennium and cannot be folded in the hands of today.
