Tiezhou Yamaoka (1836-1888)
What I have to talk about here is the origin of the Tetsutaro family and Kendo. Tetsutaro belongs to the Xiao Ye family, whose ancestral name is Xiao Ye Ma Uemon Gao Kuan, a high-ranking disciple of Xiao Ye, and Gao Kuan's eldest daughter is loyal to the fourth generation Xiao Ye Jiroemon. And Tetsutaro's father Gao Fu himself is also a master of Xiao Ye; Although his mother doesn't know the sword theory, it is said from his ancestors that Tsukahara Bokuden was the originator of the famous new trend in blade master during the Warring States Period! Perhaps it is because of the blood of the swordsman flowing in Tetsutaro's body that Tetsutaro became interested in kendo since he was young, so he learned fencing with his father. When he was nine years old, he worshipped his father's flag, Benben, and had to spend a long time relaxing in Zhai to practice real shadow flow fencing (Tie Zhou wrote "Real Shadow Flow"). At the age of ten, my father Gao Fu was transferred to Feigao Mountain County, so he took his family to Gaoshan to take office. From the age of thirteen, Tetsutaro came into contact with a new field-Zen. The influence on the cultivation of Zen has always been accompanied by Yamaoka Tiezhou's life. Therefore, Tiezhou was called the Sword Master at the end of the curtain by later generations. Of course, this is another story.
in 185, Tetsutaro, 15 years old, began to learn calligraphy at the gate of Yiting Yanzuo, a 69-year-old great calligrapher at that time. And in the same year, he wrote his life's "life training"-"2 pieces of self-cultivation". Later, Tie Zhou called it the lowest limit of "human relations" that people must abide by.
Twenty Rules of Self-cultivation
