Yu Youren or Lin Sanzhi, who is more suitable to be a contemporary book saint?

Yu Youren and Lin Sanzhi are famous contemporary calligraphers. Their calligraphy has its own characteristics. What they have in common is that they are both good at cursive writing. Both of them have reached the level of proficiency and the legendary swordsman in the field of cursive script, which can be said to be equally divided, and each has its own advantages.

Yu Youren is a famous educator, poet and calligrapher in China. He participated in the Revolution of 1911 in his early years and was a revolutionary veteran. He was the first deputy minister of the Ministry of Communications of the Republic of China and later served as the president of the Supervisory Institute. His cursive script is standard and beautiful. Appraised by professional experts as the second calligrapher after Wang Xizhi for thousands of years, and the second peak in the history of calligraphy in China. This evaluation is not high. In his youth, Yu Youren began to copy the inscriptions of the two kings and Zhao Mengfu, and then copied the inscriptions of the Northern Wei Dynasty, which further strengthened his overall grasp and selection ability of his calligraphy works.

Yu Youren devoted himself to the study of cursive script for the longest time and spent the most energy. 193 1 year, he founded the standard cursive script society, and systematically studied and sorted out the changes of cursive scripts in China since the Millennium. 1936, he published the standard cursive script, which became an important node in the history of calligraphy. He studies hard and practices hard every day. By 1950, his cursive font has reached the highest level of harmony between man and nature. Lin Sanzhi is a famous modern painter and calligrapher in China. His teacher is a famous painter Huang. Like Yu Youren, Lin Sanzhi's calligraphy learning started from copying the inscriptions. He spent the most time and energy on the study of Chu Suiliang and Mi Fei's fonts. He didn't formally write cursive until he was 60. The biggest feature of his cursive script is that it breaks through the limitation of Dong Qichang's font and is integrated with the official law of Han tablet. This is also his greatest success in cursive writing.

Neither of them has reached perfection in calligraphy. Yu Youren has too little dry pen, too much softness and too little rigidity. And Lin Sanzhi's fonts, too much dry pen, but not enough hard and soft, fonts can be said to be complementary. Both of them can be said to have reached the peak of art in cursive writing.
