"Water Melody Songtou" Su Shi

Because of Su Shi’s great achievements in many aspects, because of his more people-oriented nature, because of his wise thoughts that always flashed the light of wisdom, and because of his extraordinary and unparalleled talents, he has been praised by so many people for thousands of years. He is loved by everyone and has a reputation; and because of his rich life experience, he often becomes the topic and content of people's conversations. Naturally, students often like to use Dongpo's deeds as topics or materials when writing compositions. It is no exaggeration to say that Dongpo can be found wherever there is composition. This is precisely because Su Shi’s spirit and thoughts have long been integrated into Chinese culture and history, and are still influencing our endless cultural creation and inheritance.

Now I will bring you about Su Shi's "Shui Tiao Ge Tou", I hope you like it!

"Shui Diao Ge Tou? Bingchen Mid-Autumn Festival"

Dynasty: Song Dynasty

Author: Su Shi

In the Mid-Autumn Festival in Bingchen, I was drunk until the end of the day, and I wrote this article because I was pregnant with my son.

When will the bright moon come? Ask the sky for wine. I don’t know what year it is today in the palace in the sky. I want to ride the wind back home, but I'm afraid it's too cold in the high places. Dance to clear the shadow, how can it seem like a human being?

Turning around the Zhu Pavilion, looking down at the door, the light shines without sleep. There shouldn't be any hatred, so what's the point of being reunited when we say goodbye? People have joys and sorrows, separations and reunions, and the moon waxes and wanes. This is a difficult thing in ancient times. I hope that people will live long and travel thousands of miles.

Creation background

This poem was written by the author when he was in Mizhou during the Mid-Autumn Festival in 1076 AD (the ninth year of Xining, Shenzong of the Song Dynasty). The small preface before the words explains the process of writing the words: Bingchen Mid-Autumn Festival, drinking and getting drunk. I wrote this article because I was pregnant with my son. Because Su Shi had different political views from Wang Anshi, the reformer in power, and others, he sought to be released to the outside world and served as an official in various places. He once asked to be transferred to an official position closer to Su Che so that his brothers could gather together more often. In 1074 AD (the seventh year of Xining), Su Shi sent a mission to Mizhou. After arriving in Michigan, this wish still could not be realized. In the Mid-Autumn Festival of 1076 AD, the bright moon was in the sky and silver lights were everywhere. The poet and his younger brother Su Che had not been reunited for seven years after they separated. At this moment, the poet faced a bright moon, his heart was ups and downs, so he took advantage of the wine and wrote this famous poem.
