First of all, I don't specialize in hard pen calligraphy. I began to practice calligraphy in kindergarten and wrote intermittently for a period of time. After I went to primary school, I found that my pen handwriting was not bad.
When my son was 6 years old, he had a summer vacation to practice calligraphy. Later, he refused to practice calligraphy, and I didn't force him to practice calligraphy. Later, I found that his exercise book was also neatly written in pencil.
The above two things clearly tell us that practicing brush writing can improve hard writing. It is recommended that children practice brush calligraphy from the second and third grades of primary school, because at this time they already have some characters and know the basic stroke order, so it will be easy to learn brush calligraphy.
Hard pen and brush calligraphy will affect each other, but a good hard pen may not be able to write a good brush calligraphy, and a good brush calligraphy will certainly not be bad, because the brushwork and modeling skills of brush calligraphy are much higher than those of hard pen. Therefore, the artistic expression of brush calligraphy is much higher than that of hard pen.
