Mrs. Xian Tai was the leader of Baiyue nationality in Lingnan in the 6th century. She devoted her life to the reunification of the motherland and national unity and made outstanding achievements. She was called "the first heroine in China" by Premier Zhou, and even more known as "the Virgin of Lingnan". She has extensive influence in Guangdong, Hainan, Southeast Asia and other places. In memory of Mrs Sendai, many Sendai temples have been built in various places, including more than 200 in Maoming area alone, among which Gaozhou Sendai Temple is the largest and has the greatest influence.
The temple was built in the 14th year of Jiajing in Ming Dynasty (1535). The whole temple is divided into four parts: Qiandian, Zhongdian, Daxiong Hall and Fenggong Hall. The statues, stone carvings and inscriptions of Mrs. Xian Tai in the temple have high historical and cultural value and are provincial key cultural relics protection units.
The front hall is now a stall for believers to buy fragrant paper. On the two walls of the central hall, there are 14 square inscriptions, totaling more than 10000 words. There are five forms of calligraphy: seal, kai, Li, xing and Song. These inscriptions truly record Mrs. Xian's life and historical achievements, which are not only the material materials for studying Mrs. Xian, but also the treasures of calligraphy art. Among the numerous inscriptions, there is a poem tablet with a length of 65,438+0.65,438+0 m and a height of 0.7 m, which is engraved with poems of 65,438+00 officials of 6 families praising Mrs. Xian's achievements during Jiaqing period of Qing Dynasty.
