Brief introduction of Lingyin Temple
Lingyin Temple, also known as Yunlin Temple, was built in the first year of Xianhe in the Eastern Jin Dynasty (326) and has a history of 1670 years. Indian monk Huili saw the beautiful scenery here and thought it was hidden by the gods, so he built a temple here to take the spiritual name. During the Five Dynasties, King Qian Shu of wuyue believed in Buddhism and built a big temple. At that time, Lingyin Temple was huge, with nine floors, eighteen pavilions, seventy-seven halls and three thousand monks and nuns. It was a famous temple in the south of the Yangtze River. Since its establishment, it has been destroyed by 10 for many times, and renovated by 1956 and 1975 twice before reaching its present scale.
Visitors enter Lingyin from west to west, and first stop in front of Gong Li Tower. Gong * * * Tower is the burial place of monk Huili's ashes. This pagoda is more than 8 meters high and has seven octagonal floors. It is a stone pagoda, located next to the rock of Feilai Peak, which is quite harmonious with the surrounding scenery. Turn right after the Spring Pavilion. A red wall temporarily covered Lingyin Temple, with Feilai Peak and Cold Spring on the left. Walking by the spring, the scenery is deep and fascinating.
History of Lingyin Temple
At the beginning of Buddhism, everything just took shape. During the Southern Dynasties, Liang Wudi donated land and expanded it on a considerable scale. In the sixth year of Tang Dynasty (AD 77 1 year), it was completely renovated and the incense was flourishing. However, at the end of the Tang Dynasty, the method of Huichang was difficult to implement, the disaster of fish in the pond was hidden, and the temple was destroyed and the monks were scattered. Until King Qian of the Five Dynasties ordered Master Yongming to revive and develop, a stone building, a Buddhist temple, a Buddhist temple and a Maitreya Buddhist pavilion were newly built and named Lingyin New Temple. At the peak, there were nine floors, eighteen pavilions, seventy-two halls, 1,300 monasteries and more than 3,000 monks. In Hangzhou, the capital of the Southern Song Dynasty, Gaozong and Xiaozong were lucky enough to drive away spiritual seclusion for Hangzhou, take charge of temple affairs and write calligraphy. In Jiading, Song Ningzong, it is called Jiangnan Yi Chan. During the Shunzhi period, the great Zen master retired after his success, determined to rebuild and raise funds widely. It only took eighteen years before and after the temple was built. The Vatican Monastery is solemn and solemn, and the ancient style is revived, ranking first in the southeast. In the 28th year of Kangxi in Qing Dynasty (AD 1689), Lingyin Temple was named Yunlin Temple.
During Kangxi's southern tour in the Qing Dynasty, he boarded the Range Rover in Beifeng and set up an impromptu plaque for Lingyin Temple. The traditional Lingyin character is a rain character above, three characters in the middle and a witch character below. When he was happy, he wrote such a big rain on it that he almost couldn't get off the stage. It suddenly occurred to him that when he climbed the North Peak, he saw the vast clouds and forests at the foot of the mountain. The whole temple is shrouded in a faint morning fog, with dense clouds and forests, which is very quiet. So I had a brainwave and added a cloud word under the word rain, named Lingyin Temple Yunlin Temple. Now the four-character monument of Yunlin Temple in front of Tianwang Temple is the imperial pen of Emperor Kangxi.
After the founding of the People's Republic of China, Lingyin carried out many large-scale repairs. Nowadays, under the government's policy of freedom of religious belief, under the leadership of the abbot Muyu and the prison owner Juecheng, the Millennium Temple, with its high-rise buildings and rivers flowing into the sea, presents a thriving scene of a chivalrous tourist guide network. The development goal is to fully carry forward the fine tradition of Buddhism and actively build a pure land in Southeast China.
At present, Lingyin Temple mainly takes the Heavenly King Hall, Ursa Hall, Pharmacist Hall, Fatang Hall and Huayan Hall as the central axis, and there are 500 Luohan Hall, Dao Ji Zen Hall, Lian Deng Pavilion, Dabei Building, abbot room, East-West Tibetan Hall and East-West Monument Room on both sides, covering an area of 150 mu. This temple is magnificent and orderly. There is a statue of Siddhartha Gautama in the Hall of Mahatma, which is based on the Zen Buddha statue in the Tang Dynasty and carved and inlaid with 24 sticks, with a total height of 24.8 meters. Its solemn appearance and vivid charm are rare in China.
Since Yin Zicheng was founded, many monks, scholars, Confucianism, Buddhism and Taoism have gathered together, and there have been many discussions.
