After Zhao Kuangyin passed it on to his younger brother, did his descendants finally get preferential treatment in the Song Dynasty?

Song Taizu's descendants were treated differently in the Northern Song Dynasty. Those who mix well rank among the county kings, and they are also hereditary county kings (there are few hereditary titles in the Song Dynasty, and most of them are just lifelong titles that are not hereditary), which is no worse than the descendants of Emperor Taizong.

Those who don't mix well are just like ordinary people, such as the grandson of Mao VI, whose biological father is Zhao Zicheng, and the official missionary Lang, just a civilian from Bapin (the descendant of Zhao, the king of Qin). Xiaozong played with mud in the countryside before he was elected as Chu Jun by Song Gaozong.

Northern Song and Southern Song Dynasties

Song Taizu has four sons, the eldest son Zhao, the second son Zhao Dezhao, the third son Zhao and the fourth son Zhao. Among them, Zhao and Zhao died early without a queen. Only Zhao Dezhao, the second child, and Zhao, the fourth child, lived to adulthood.

After Zhao Kuangyin's death, the throne was not passed to De Zhaohe Fangde, but unexpectedly passed to his younger brother Zhao Guangyi.

As for the reason, there are two theories. People suspect that it was killed, while the official history books say that Du Taihou formed a "golden alliance" during his lifetime, in view of the lesson of losing his country because of carrying on the family line, so as to pass on the throne to his younger brother, with the aim of consolidating and developing Zhao, Song and Jiangshan.

Whatever the reason, in short, the Dasong regime established by Zhao Kuangyin spread to Zhao Guangyi.

After Zhao Guangyi succeeded to the throne, as Du Taihou wished, he worked hard to consolidate the Zhao and Song regimes. Moreover, he also made De Zhaohe Fang's brother king. However, he was always uneasy about the descendants of his eldest brother, always vigilant about the brothers De Zhaohe Fangde, and persecuted the two brothers by reforming the law.

Zhao Dezhao, the prince of Yan, was persecuted first. In the fourth year of Emperor Taizong's peaceful and rejuvenating the country (979), Zhao Dezhao went to Youzhou as a proofreader with his uncle Zhao Guangyi. Due to Taizong's mistake, Song Jun was defeated by the Liao army and his morale was shaken. One night in Germany, rumors of the disappearance of Emperor Taizong suddenly came from the army. So someone seeks Lide Zhao as the emperor, and this matter has also reached the ears of Zhao Guangyi.

Afterwards, Taizong hated Dezhao. When Dezhao rewarded the meritorious soldiers in the battle of Youzhou of Emperor Taizong, his uncle Zhao Guangyi said coldly, "It's not too late to reward yourself when you become emperor."

This obvious irony, sarcasm and jealousy made Zhao Dezhao panic, knowing that he was suspected by his uncle. Faced with this situation, Dezhao was helpless and committed suicide that night after returning to the yamen. At the age of 28.

When Zhao Guangyi heard that his nephew committed suicide, he was very shocked and regretted. He rushed to hug Zhao Dezhao's body and cried, "Why are you such an idiot?" .

However, crying returns to crying, and chagrin returns to chagrin. In order to consolidate his throne, Zhao Guangyi will continue to attack his nephew. After DeZhao was forced to die, Zhao Fangde was the next to die.

In 19981year, two years after Zhao Dezhao committed suicide, Zhao Fangde died suddenly at the age of 23.

Zhao Guangyi was heartbroken when he heard this. In addition to mourning in the mourning hall, he also ordered to stop the court meeting for five days, and posthumously awarded the title of Zhao Secretariat and the title of Prince. (It was only the county king before)

Regarding Zhao's death, people generally suspect that it is the black hand. However, from the Song Dynasty to the present, there is no record of "Zhao Wei's victimization" in various historical materials, including official history, literati's notes, unofficial history and novels.

Therefore, Zhao may really just die of illness. However, after De Showa's death, Zhao Guangyi was really in a good mood. Because he is very generous to his nephew (the son of De Zhaohe Fangde).

Eight immortals king

Zhao Dezhao has five sons, and Zhao Fang has three sons. During the Northern Song Dynasty, the descendants of the two brothers always existed as royalty. For example, during the Jingkang Rebellion, Zhao Zisong, the magistrate of Zhenjiang, was the fifth grandson of Zhao Dezhao.

Another example is the first line of the king of Anding County, which is the only hereditary title in the Northern Song Dynasty (there is also a general king). Song Shenzong once ordered that one of the descendants of the imperial clan must attack the king of Anding County, and it must be Song Taizu, the descendant of Zhao Kuangyin, who can't be cut off from generation to generation. So in the Northern Song Dynasty, there were not a few people who were descendants of Mao. During the Jingkang Rebellion, the then king of Anding County was called Zhao Lingzhi, and he was also an important supporter of Zhao Gou's revival of Jiangnan.

Zhao Zisong and Zhao Lingzhi, these people can be such big-level cadres, which shows that the Northern Song Dynasty did not treat these descendants of Mao as outsiders.

However, if there is a good collocation, there must be a bad collocation. For example, Song Xiaozong's father didn't do very well.

My grandfather's name is Zhao, and he was awarded the title of Lord protector, and his treatment was not bad. Zhao Zicheng, the father of filial piety, is just a fairy city with eight products. Later, it was because Xiaozong was made a prince that he was made the king of An Xiu county.

Northern Song and Southern Song Dynasties

After Song Xiaozong ascended the throne, the descendants of Mao Yimai really turned over. As a result, a very interesting phenomenon appeared in the history of the Song Dynasty: except Zhao Kuangyin, the emperors of the Northern Song Dynasty all came from Song Taizong; Except Zhao Gou, all the emperors of the Southern Song Dynasty came from Song Taizu.

It is worth mentioning that China's famous calligrapher, painter and poet is the 11th grandson of man and a direct descendant of Zhao.

Generally speaking, the descendants of Mao were treated fairly well in the Northern Song Dynasty. In addition to not being able to master real power, the fame and fortune that members of the royal family should have can be obtained by the descendants of Mao. (It is precisely because there is no real power that most of Mao's descendants escaped during the Jingkang Rebellion. )
